They retracted their support of KCEN.
They backed Carmen Best when Best was gassing the City & criminalizing Black Youth.
They are attacking the Council using the BLM name while siding w Durkan who vetoes efforts for police accountability. #blm #seattleprotests

This is concerning bc hundreds of thousands were donated. I shared their page. Promoted them. Worked on the census project w/ them. Worked on getting visits done for the ppl they were supporting on bail. As of 7/13, there was no more bail support. #blm #seattleprotests

Orgs tht aren't accountable to community & compromising on messaging need to be addressed. Defunding the police is a radical abolitionist effort. Undermining, tht. Marching w police, teaming up w the Mayor, is contrary to Black liberation. Is contrary to what #BLM stands for.

Community has tried to reach out to #BLM SKC.
I have tried as well.
I was told the Bail Fund would be reinstated over a month ago.
There was silence.
They didn't support any of the protests aside from the silent march which was organized w SPD, not the bike brigade.

This is BLMSKC taking credit for almost a decade of youth led abolitionist work w the Youth Jail closure. Orgs that are part of KCEN which SKC spread misinformation about & retracted support.

The bail fund, not operational since 7/13, & KCEN support, is still on their website, on 9/16. Best voluntarily retired. Will earn $150k/ yr 4 life while a Black womxn SPD shot in the eye w a rubber bullet could go blind.

Mother's of Police Accountability returned their $25k check from BLM SKC (even though the donation is still on the page)when SKC withdrew support of KCEN. MPA has shown support for police but recognized BLM SKCs antiblackness. mothersforpoliceaccountability.org/blog/rxustdpey…

Mother's of Police Accountability returned the funds on 7/24. The information on BLMSKCs website still has them listed as recipients. BLM SKC does not address the anti-Blackness of its actions. Does not apologize for erasing & undermining work of Black orgs. Does not collab.

#BLM w ACLU filed for TRO v SPD. Not going after Durkan. Not removing budgets. This also isn't to say they've done nothing. This is to say they take performative action to be in the rm w/ politicians, undermine other orgs more radical work, take credit re Youth Jail, & alienate.
