Pompeo's China attacks increasingly unhinged, & now on environment from fossil fuel guzzlers? At 4 times US population, China's per capita carbon emission less than half US, 7th in the world. Global pollution making stuff moved to China. #Paris #renewableenergy @AttenboroughSir
2) So what have we learnt from @thecyrusjanssen's video? 2016 Carbon Dioxide Co2 EMISSIONS per capita:

2) Canada – 14.91t
3) South Korea – 11.50t
4) Russia – 9.97t

5) Point 7) China plans to plant at least 84,000 square kilometres (32,400 square miles) of trees by the end of the year (starting 2018), roughly the size of Ireland. Aims to increase the country’s forest coverage from 21% of its landmass to 23% by 2020.
6) Electricity production & transport:
1) In 2017, over 36% of China’s electricity came from renewable sources.

8) Point 5 cont'd) The bus fleets in a number of China’s city centres are near-fully or fully electrified, contributing to improving air quality. Santiago in Chile is home to the largest electric urban bus fleet outside of China. >>>
9) China remains committed to the Paris Agreement and is on track to meet these goals by 2030.
In contrast, Donald Trump pulled the US out and has increased the production of fossil fuels.
Don't forget that China greatly contributed to US growth over the past 30 years. >>>
10) Some of the biggest US corporations make more than 40% of their profits from sales & services in China alone: Apple, Microsoft, Nike, Starbucks, Goldman Sachs, Coke, McDonalds etc. China was a boon to US & Australian farming & Oz mining, saving both from the US's 2008 crash.
11) China saved the world from America's devastating 2008 crash by acting as shock absorber, allowing global currencies to devalue against it & took the hit. It bought a third of US debt, saving their economy & helping start the longest bull run ever.…

1) Trump/Pompeo/UK disinfo on Hong Kong National Security Law. 1984 Joint Dec: "The [HKSAR] will be directly under the authority of the Central People's Government of the [PRC &] will enjoy a high degree of autonomy, EXCEPT IN FOREIGN & DEFENCE AFFAIRS."… >
2) US NED-funded protesters trashed Hong Kong, beat, maimed, burn & killed Chinese civilians for a year while the cops struggled to maintain order & killed no-one. Meanwhile, US killed 1,004 Americans last year yet they're attacking China? Perverse.
3) A reminder of the Hong Kong rioters' brutality and slavishness to their former colonial masters. Lisa Nandy, Stephen Kinnock & others ignore these atrocities, instead inventing pretexts to build a war on 1.4b Chinese.

THREAD. Refreshingly objective piece by @MaxBoot with a few caveats. "If China had acted even 2 wks earlier, it cld've averted 86% of its coronavirus cases. But if Trump (acted) 2 wks earlier he could have prevented 90% of U.S. CV deaths." 1)…
2) China fumbled the start but it was investigating in the dark. This was a NEW "novel" coronavirus & they were panicked like everyone else. But once they got on the case they turbo-charged their efforts, sequencing the gene code in record time & sending it out 11-12 Jan.
3) Once there was confirmation of Human 2 Human infection they locked down an entire region, Wuhan/Hubei, population the size of the UK on 23rd Jan, locking down the whole country 1st February.

So once more @StephenMcDonell sticks a target on every Chinese person saying in his report on @bbcworldservice today that China was "the country that caused this catastrophe". Unscientific, unethical, just vile. #COVID19
BBC "journalist" @StephenMcDonell is too cowardly to engage with the horror of what he has done & has blocked me after targeting Chinese people with his unethical World Service report. There are serious points to be made about the science of #COVID19. ... 2
3) It is a virus everyone expected since US 2009 H1N1, hence US pandemic team set up. Covid-19 S strain was missed in US (& Italy), the L strain emerging in China & identified. The Chinese were VICTIMS not "the cause of this catastrophe". @bbcworldservice…
