This would be the equivalent of a Medieval knight on foot fighting a man with a crossbow or longbow, or a Neanderthal using a thrusting spear against a Cro-Magnon with a throwing spear. In each instance,

Daryl would most likely fire his crossbow several times before Leatherface could get a chance to slash it out in close quarters with him.

We also have to remember that Daryl has racked up quite a bit of combat experience on the Walking Dead, FAR more than Leatherface has. Thus, once again, Daryl has the edge.
