On going protest across Nigeria against @PoliceNG brutality.

#SARS had been disbanded 4 times in 4 years but still operational.

Beyond an effective ban. Here are some of the short term actions the Nigerian government can take. 👇🏿

1. Immediately establish an independent public enquiry to be televised live, victims should be able to give open testimony and indicted @PoliceNG officers prosecuted.
2. Immediate audit and inspection of @PoliceNG SARS detention facilities across Nigeria by independent commission

3. Compensation to identified victims, immediate dismissal and were possible prosecution of officers who may have betrayed the trust to protect and serve the public.

4. Engage with members of various communities and pressure groups on police reform.

5. Recall all @PoliceNG attached to VIP's back into regular service as we have more police officers on domestic beats than those protecting the community.
6. Listen to Police officers on the frontlines to understand their own perspectives and how they can regain the peoples trust

7.Reward @PoliceNG who have maintained the oath they swore to protect and serve the community
8. Disband SARS and reintegrate them into the rapid Nigerian Mobile Police (MOPOL) force
9. Study the @followlasg @rrslagos767 method which seems to be more civil than other sister units

10. @NGRPresident @MBuhari should summon IG of @PoliceNG as it appears his orders to disband and recall SARS officers have been largely ignored by the police.

11. Make the welfare of @PoliceNG top priority, training, recruitment, orientation and others.

Finally, protect citizens protesting PEACEFULY against @PoliceNG brutality. Engage with the protesters and create an avenue for communication.

This protests are legitimate and attempts to paint it as being inspired by Yahoo Boys and fraudsters is counter productive.
