President Trump explicitly promised that anyone he nominated to the Supreme Court would be a vote to overturn the Affordable Care Act.
Just one week after the election, the Supreme Court will hear a case in which the Trump Administration is trying to strike down this landmark law that has expanded health coverage and given pre-existing condition protections to tens of millions of Americans. #WhatsAtStake
Let me be clear: Seven days after Election Day, the Trump Administration will be telling the Supreme Court to tear down the Affordable Care Act and gut health care protections in the middle of this pandemic.
THREAD: Late last night – I asked the President’s lawyers a pretty simple question: Does President Trump agree that foreigners’ involvement in American elections is illegal?
Their answer was stunning – and left me and many of my colleagues even more alarmed than before.
First – some context.
We’re conducting this impeachment trial to determine whether President Trump abused his power and worked with a foreign government (Ukraine) to interfere in our 2020 election, but we’ve seen President Trump do similar things before.
Remember - in July 2016, Pres. Trump, in response to a question about reports that Russia was behind the theft of emails from the DNC, said, “Russia if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing” from Hillary Clinton’s private email server.
I will be voting NO on Matthew Kacsmaryk, President Trump’s nominee for a federal judgeship in Texas. His anti-#LGBTQ views would move our nation backwards.
This #PrideMonth, Rs are trying to confirm Kacsmaryk--who compared the “march towards so-called marriage equality” with “complete lawlessness,” & called transgender identity “a psychological condition in need of care, not a category of persons in need of special legal protection”
The beauty of our Constitution is that it protects the rights of ALL Americans. It allows people of different views, different values, and different faiths to live together with a culture of tolerance, not exclusion.
Wonky but true: If we want to remain the world’s strongest economy and a leader in innovation, we need to reform our patent laws.
That’s right, our patent laws.
Most Americans don’t think about patents very often, but they’re a key bedrock of our economy.
We need to do more to help ensure that American businesses, researchers, inventors, and organizations are incentivized to develop the new technologies that will change the world, new cures that will save thousands of lives, and more.
Right now, though, our patent laws aren’t very clear, and that’s causing real problems. We’re seeing that researchers and investors are hesitant to put years of work and lots of money into research that they may not be able to patent.
I don’t have 1000 words for this photo (credit to @AP photographer @evanvucci) but I do have some.
It's no secret that I don't agree with President Trump very often, but I pray for the President regularly, as I did at today’s National Prayer Breakfast.
In front of thousands of people at the event and many more watching at home, I prayed that God would grant President Trump wisdom, grace, and peace
Look, I know that many Delawareans dislike and disagree with the President and that many others support him passionately. My commitment - and my prayer - is to try my best each day to work with Democrats, Republicans, & the President to get things done for the people we represent
