Where did it go wrong for Punekars?

Punekars used to tease mumbaikars on water clogging. Well, the same thing has happened to Pune for the 2nd year running. So what exactly went wrong?

One liner answer: Voted for PMC, with eyes still on Delhi.

In september 2019, Pune saw floods for the first time in years. Since then, everyone kept on asking the PMC to clean the drainage, get rid of the encroachments but the Mayor, his 100 corporators, Commissioner were unmoved.

Huge rains yesterday and story from last year almost repeated itself. The roads, bridges constructed last year were washed out yesterday. In a year?
Development of Pune had come to standstill because of the rivalry between Dada's NCP and Bhai's Congress for few years.

Then came 2014, the year that changed politics of India. Punekars blessed BJP with 1 MP and all 8 MLAs. They further provided BJP with 100 corporators in the following 2017 municipal elections, looking at PM Modi. It has been 3.5 years since. 4/8

Pune got a BJP Mayor, Metro project caught speed. Fine. Anything else? Pune is completely in the hands of BJP for 6 years now. Did you see PMC taking up any actual burning issue such as Water supply, Encroachments, Roads, Traffic, Solid Waste Mgmt during their tenure? No!

When Punekars gave 100 corporators to BJP, there was a party and a man (Raj Thackeray), who was giving PPT Presentations of the work done by his PMC corporators and how they had managed to solve water supply, roads, Solid Waste Mgmt, corruption in Nashik within just 5 years. 6/8

Punekars though, ignored him and believed that those in Delhi will look into the matters of Pune city. Punekars failed to consider that the Municipal elections were different than the Loksabha elections.

Punekars rejected those who had proven at municipal level, who were willing to and could work for betterment of City.

And this is where it went wrong for Pune and Punekars!!!
