Fingers crossed for Patty Cuttell in #HRM11.

This would give @hfxgov council #GenderParity!
“A record-shattering nine women will be serving this term, surpassing the 2004-2008 council, which saw four women on council.”

#DistrictOfLunenburg saltwire.com/news/provincia…
Cuttell was leading by 29 votes.
(Region of Queens voters reject secrecy & divisiveness of previous council.)

@TinaComeaunews In the race for mayor, the successful candidate was Darlene_Norman, defeating incumbent mayor David Dagley & incumbent councillors Susan MacLeod & Brian Fralic. saltwire.com/news/provincia…

@marcilync1 @infomorning Change was certainly on the minds of Richmond County voters who rejected re-election bids of four incumbents.

First-time candidate Melanie Sampson emerged victorious against incumbent and warden Brian Marchand. #nspoli thechronicleherald.ca/news/provincia…
@marcilync1 @infomorning Marchand was the same clown who came up with this gem back in February:

Warden Brian Marchand said councillors did not oppose the idea at Monday's meeting, but they didn't support it, either. #Karma

@marcilync1 @infomorning @tomayers2262 Lots of change blowing through the corridors of power, following 2020 municipal elections in NS.

Amanda McDougall, who toppled career politician @CecilPClarke, is new mayor of @CBRMGov. She was actually criticized by some for 'running while pregnant'.

Thanks @thesmacleodshow for tackling this under-reported issue .

As EAC explained, Clearwater has 6,500 traps on one gigantic boat (used to be 8,000), while Indigenous fishers have 50 traps.

Other than you, MSM seems to be ignoring Risley’s plundering via offshore fishery. Image
Here’s a Paul Withers story from Jan. 2019.

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) says the practice poses a "serious conservation risk" because lobster and other species can be unintentionally caught. @DFO_MAR

2) In alphabetical order we have @RandyDelorey, the @nshealth minister whose tenure has coincided with what has been described as a health care crisis, topped off by 57 deaths in nursing homes overseen by his department. #Northwood Image
3) Then there is @LabiKousoulis, lately the @NSLAE minister in a notoriously anti-labour government, and the post-secondary education boss who did nothing as university tuition fees in Nova Scotia became the highest in the country. Image

@CTVAnchor As recently as yesterday, your minister, the Attorney-General, insisted the review was a better option, the best option. You said that last week.

@StephenMcNeil "We needed a joint inquiry, Steve."

#Portapique #nspoli
Murphy: It was the federal govt. that said no? You were for it, they were against it.

Stephen McNeil: Right.

Murphy: And you didn't ask them why they were against it?

McNeil: We don't have the authority to compel people forward.

@BillBlair @JustinTrudeau @BernJordanMP
Murphy: Why did you not reveal that the federal govt. was opposed to it (public inquiry)?

McNeil: Let's be honest, Steve. This isn't about me or my government, or about the federal govt. It's about those families.

Clearly Steve, and let me be clear. Clearly we missed the mark.

The decision not to hold a full public inquiry into the murders of 22 Innocent people means the current Nova Scotia govt. no longer has the confidence of its citizens.

The only solution is to topple this government. Time to answer the question:

#HowStrongAreWe? #Portapique
.@brianhillGlobal The independent review panel will have no power to compel witnesses or testimony, no power to subpoena evidence, no power to challenge any agency or org that refuses to provide info, and no power to make binding recommendations to govt. globalnews.ca/news/7211458/n…

⁦.@UniforTheUnion⁩, which represents 450 workers at #Northwood, says #PPE was withheld in early stages of the outbreak because the nursing home, like many others in Cda., was concerned about its supply running out.

2)@JanetHazey, Pres. @NS_nurses, said staffing levels at #Northwood have long been a major concern of hers.

She said the union has been calling for a staff review at Northwood for years and published a report called Broken Homes in late 2015. @MulliganCBC cbc.ca/news/canada/no…
3) @LindaMacNeil3 of #Uniforsaid there will be a meeting of the health-care unions on Thurs. She said the call for a public inquiry will likely be a topic of discussion.

Janet Simm said Northwood welcomes the scrutiny.

(@StephenMcNeil has consistently dodged the question.)
