A man was arrested in Kannapolis, NC with a van full of guns and explosives with plans to carry out an act of terrorism, including trying to assassinate Joe Biden. wbtv.com/2020/10/22/man…
A search of the van found “approximately $509,000 of U.S. currency (believed to be Defendant’s inheritance), books (about survival, bomb making, improved weapons and Islam), drawing of swastikas and planes crashing into buildings” and five more guns.
When the suspect was arrested, officers found drivers licenses from three different states. The order said agents also discovered he had purchased the various weapons in states across the country, including Washington, Kansas, New Hampshire and West Virginia.
Agents found child pornography on 8 different electronic devices, along w/ other pictures/posts related to plans & ideas for terrorist acts, including a note created on 10/15/2019, describing a plan to perform a mass shooting at a mall food court on Christmas or Black Friday.
They also found still images from video footage of the Christchurch, New Zealand mosque shooting that the suspect downloaded on March 21, 2020 and related internet searches.
Agents also found:
-internet searches conducted by the suspect between March-May 2020 seeking information about Joe Biden’s home address, state gun laws, rifle parts, and night vision goggles
-images from an electronic document entitled “A Guide to Mass Shooting”
