If we truly want to have struggling Albertans do better, & AB as a whole come out of its struggles, we need to step outside our own perspectives & dialogue with those around us. (I know - weird concept). Know what doesn't help at all? Attacking each other & making assumptions. /1
We all have our own concerns when it comes to what we consider the biggest issues for AB. *Newsflash - we do NOT all have the same concerns.* (So wild to consider.)
I can say- there often is common ground when we take the time to dialogue on issues. Start there with people. /2
When someone disagrees with you, it does nothing to attack and shut them down. If we opt to give space & listen to what they voice as their concerns & thoughts, we validate others & we both learn. Surprise - not one of us can know ALL the issues & have the only solutions. /3
We are all doing the best we can with what we have. Even if we strongly disagree with one another.
We can disagree & remain respectful. The only way we will create needed innovative solutions is by coming together, learning from each other, & respecting each other.
/4
I consider policies which impact my life when I vote. As many others do. This does not make me a horrible person, it is me making decisions to support what is best for my family. We will never all agree on best platforms. We need to look already at what each party offers /5
Wise parties are already engaging with voters across Alberta to discover what people consider the biggest issues & needs & then create their policies & platforms around that.
Quit attacking each other & start hearing each other's concerns. The more we all know, the better we do.
Be kind. Be patient. Stop making assumptions.
#OurAlberta needs us to work together as much as we can. And where we disagree, to figure out solutions.
Please quit writing off others based on your own assumptions. That is your issue, not theirs.
Quit the attacks. They hurt AB.
When I engaged more on Twitter, I was attacked by both "sides". I was called an "egotistical bitch" by one strong NDP supporters & her friends all attacked me. Why? Because I was part of creating a non partisan advocacy group. That group dissolved. I still was attacked after.
Did that make me decide to align with NDP? No. It cause me to block the drama. I have zero time for disrespect, abuse, or bullies.
I have had the chance to engage with more on the right to meet on common ground than with those on the left. Even though I align more left.
We need to quit the drama. Quit the attacks. There are those who will not change their mind. That is not on us. But it is on us to remain respectful if we choose.
There are MANY people with concerns in AB. The more of those we engage with, the more we will learn issues across AB.
THEN we can look at the biggest areas of common concern. & work outwards from there.
Let me tell you a HUGE ignored demographic. Those with #disabilities. Engage with them. Advocate alongside. When we support them, it helps ALL of us. Truly.
#BeKindOrQuiet. My thoughts. 😉

I identify as centrist. Every fed election since 18 I have voted Liberal. That option will never fly in AB even though many voters fit there. Which leader currently has highest popularity?? Fed Liberal. The central one. WTF AB. Quit attacking centrists. It is not helping.

I support a strong private economy. That often involves tax policies which support business. I support small/med business over large corporations. Tax the bigger ones more. Help the smaller ones.
I support O&G (NOT as the only resource) & definitely a move to Green Energy. /2
I support publicly funded essential services & social safety nets. Public ed & public hc. With the reality that currently not all kids fit within public education. I support the child first as we work towards a more #InclusiveEducation. This takes collaboration at all levels. /3

I am done.
I am kind. Compassionate. Gracious. I truly believe we ALL do the best we can with what we have. When we know better, we do better, when we can.
But I do not think any UCP MLA is learning or wanting to do better. They continually do worse.
#ableg /1
I am done with UCP creating needless stress & struggles for our most vulnerable with changes to #AISH. I have heard of 2 deaths by suicide directly due to UCP cuts. There will be more. Those on #AISH matter to me. They deserve compassion, not cuts. Support, not distress. /2
I am done being told there were no cuts to Ed. Bullshit. Feb had direct cuts to both PUF & ADLC & we KNOW if you compare numbers, there are cuts. How DARE UCP cause more struggles for kids, esp those with special needs. That is beyond cruel & immoral. These cuts harm kids. /3

I respectfully ask about policies being built to support the mental health crisis Alberta was facing pre pandemic, which will be exponentially heightened by the pandemic.

thestar.com/edmonton/2019/…
A study released, cited in above article, relates a 16% increase in death by suicide rates for every 1% increase in unemployment. Albertans voted UCP primarily due to promises of job creation. Albertans have been hurting for years now, due to the global economic downturn in O&G
@jkenney
With the decision to lift insurance & electricity caps, Albertans now face much higher costs personally for both. As well, 1 school I know had a 400% increase to its insurance. This is not accounted for in the 2020 education budget. Is it expected broke Albertans pay?

Alberta. We are in a battle like no other.
Choose to side with govt who run to ONT to ask for money and CONTINUE to disrespect and fight with frontline workers in a GLOBAL PANDEMIC.
Or choose to rise and ROAR.
OUR FRONTLINE WORKERS NEED OUR VOICES TO RISE.
We have FRONTLINE STAFF showing up for us without ceasing. With NO idea how they will be paid or if they will have jobs soon. Lacking sufficient equipment. Lacking fricking sufficient PHONING CODES to look after us. Bearing emotional and financial fatigue caused by this govt.
We have a CHOICE to make.
To rise and ROAR and stand with our FRONTLINE WORKERS who are putting their own lives and their own families at risk FOR US.
Or to stand with a govt who is clearly unable to lead us during a pandemic.
