When negotiating a trade deal with the US, the #NHS will not be on the table.
The price the NHS pays for drugs will not be on the table.
The services the NHS provides will not be on the table.
Decisions about the NHS and all public services are made by the UK Government.
And will continue to be made by the UK Government.
Not by our trade partners.
Never have been, never will be.
Trade deals will not force the NHS to provide preferential access to foreign companies.
And for the record no trade agreement has ever affected our ability to keep our public services public, nor has one ever forced us to change the way we run them.
The UK Government will continue to ensure that patients have access to clinically and cost-effective medicines that are affordable to the NHS.
Finally, we would not agree to any proposals on medicines pricing or access that would put NHS finances at risk or reduce clinician and patient choice.
