Through repeated threats to ignore election results, fabricated claims of fraud, and attacks on mail-in voting, Trump has telegraphed his plan to steal the election.

It is real, but we can stop it if we’re ready. A thread:

A key piece of his plan is to malign and restrict mail-in voting via lawsuits and attacks on the post office that will cause delays. This is, first, voter suppression.

But it also sets Trump up to declare victory before counting all the votes.

How? Biden voters are much likelier than Trump’s to vote by mail, and mail votes take longer to count.

So even if Trump appears to lead in some states on Nov 3, a “blue shift” may occur as mailed votes are counted, showing Biden to be the true winner.

On Nov 3, if Trump appears to have a slight lead in a few swing states because mail votes haven’t been counted, he could declare himself the victor then and there.

But he can’t pull this off alone.
Right-wing media and foreign actors like Russia will flood media in support of his claims. With this propaganda and teams of lawyers challenging mail ballots, he can ensure their counting is so delayed that it isn’t complete by Dec. 8, the legal deadline.

Republicans loyal to Trump control legislatures in the swing states of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, and they'll declare Trump victorious and award their states’ electors to him.

That is how Trump could steal the election.

But we are not helpless to stop it.
If Trump tries to claim a false victory, the public must reject his false narrative.

We must demand Biden not concede unless a Trump win is clear from the counting of all the votes, including mail votes.

We must pressure our electeds to do the same.

Trump’s plan hinges on falsely claiming victory on Nov. 3, claiming any ballots counted after then are fraudulent. He'll disrupt the ballot count through legal challenges and violence, followed by Republican-controlled legislatures trying to appoint fraudulent Trump electors.

This thread from @chrisgeidner about the scheduled federal execution of Wesley Purkey this evening is going to continue here at @Justice_Collab for now due to the current Twitter issues.
The second scheduled federal execution this week, Purkey's execution is currently on hold by two different district court injunctions. DOJ is appealing both to both the DC Circuit and the Supreme Court. Another appeal is pending from Purkey's lawyers at the Supreme Court.

AG Bill Barr made hypocritical statements this week about progressive prosecutors that are politicized and false. #BarrLies

Violent crime decreased by roughly 8% as State’s Attorney Kimm Foxx’s office reduced the number of people being sentenced to prison or jail by 19%.
