#onlineclasses was just one of a number of demands @UCUHallam made of @sheffhallamuni but we have more. 👇

1) campus MUST be made safe for essential #f2f classes. It FAILED our H&S inspections. We've reported breaches to @H_S_E #CampusCovid 1/

2) provide clarity and consistency for Sem2 teaching. Flipflopping each week increases staff & student anxiety/confusion and improves NOTHING #MoveOnline #StayOnline 2/

3) stop #workload intensification. Staff are on their knees. How can we plan/teach online+f2f+both simultaneously, hold smaller classes, provide 1-2-1 support, drop-ins. We were exhausted by extra workload BEFORE #Covid. This is unsustainable. Something has to give! 3/

4) We need a working test/trace system. No effective system = all but "essential" #f2f teaching will be #onlineclasses for foreseeable.

Priority testing must be given to those staff required to teach on campus and we must put safety before student experience 4/

5) stop the bullying and threats from line managers. Risking lives simply to sit in the same room is utter madness and negligent esp considering knock on effects to wider community. #Lockdown We stand by any member facing disciplinary measures! #nof2f 5/

We call on @sheffhallamuni management to stop the mixed messaging internally. Work with us in the true spirit of our partnership to provide a safe, secure campus for all where staff feel valued and that our lives actually mean something to management. 6/

Trust us to do our jobs. Online delivery is new to most of us but teaching isn't. Give us the time and space to get used to the new delivery medium and we will strive to do our best as we have always done. 7/

#StudentsDeserveBetter @sheffhallamuni could easily afford to cover losses to local landlords to let #students go home to families. Lured here under false pretences of #Covid free experience they bought this illusion to be with friends not for f2f classes. Not their fault! 8/

@Hallam_VC still not reversed despite having more not less students this year. Strike pay is still being deducted despite hugely increased workloads.

What's the plan for the extra cash @sheffhallamuni?

@Hallam_VC still not reversed his decision of no pay rise not even the pretence of a cost of living rise this year. This despite having more students than usual not less as he predicted. #NoExcuseNow
