often we talk about the discipline whip scars lan wangji's back that mark him because he protected wei wuxian in his own ways. but rarely do we talk about those that brand jiang cheng's chest that he also endured because he protected wei wuxian by luring wen chao's men away.

lwj had lxc to tell his story. jc had no one to. wwx knows the existence of lwj’s scars and the reason behind them. he never finds out about jc’s. and the latter seems to never want to tell wwx too, for they are scars he would rather bear himself for the rest of his life.

was there ever a time when maybe jc just wanted to tell wwx everything? would that make a difference? mend their relationship? he probably doesn’t know. but one thing is for sure, he knows his shixiong would feel guilty. now wwx has his second life, and jc would prefer it to not

carry any guilt.

just a smol hc that jc never told wwx the truth because wwx would just feel... that it’s all his fault, again. he surely would think “it’s because he wanted to save me, that’s why a-cheng led the men away, and in the end he lost his core. because of me. because of me. of me.”

i also think that jc shows his love very differently, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t love. everyone’s a victim of consequences at the very end 😭 (not looking at you sect leader yao and jgs hahaha)

if only the yunmengshuang jie talked it out one night at some place like qiting wine house or something, and over some alcohol. it’d be nice to see them laugh over it, because it’s already over. and they’ve grown up, grown past it. and furthermore, their shijie would want them

to be happy. and deep down, they themselves want to be happy for—and with—each other.
