Be grateful for the 20th Amendment’s adoption in 1933 #history
By reducing the Presidential lame duck period by moving the date of the Inauguration from March 4th to January 20 there is six less weeks for mayhem #history
And the 20th Amendment also moved the term of the incoming Congress from March 4th to January 3rd which also reduces the Lame Duck period for Congress #history
But I wish that those that hold themselves out as Constitutionalists to care about more than the 2nd Amendment.
While the 24th Amendment is ostensibly a prohibition upon poll taxes but it also says “any other tax” and that is why actions like those of Ron DeSantis in Florida to disenfranchise convicted felons because of their outstanding fines owed even if their sentences are complete
Republicans talk about how Lincoln freed the slaves, how they passed the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments. However, since the Civil Rights Era they have sought to disenfranchise and suppress.
If we believe in a Democratic Republic them we need to make it so everyone can participate and feel they are part.
This morning I visited with my more conservative father who was articulating the fact he was comfortable with this outcome.
But I asked him what do we do with the 40% of American who are this guy. Why are they so irrational? 
What is this guy angry about? My dad responded that people are angry because both parties have let these people down. My response? But you taught us that we cannot rely on people and that most nefarious action is really due to human incompetence. He didn’t have a response
Why is this guy angry? What does he think Trump can or will do for him?
