We've now reached the point where even the on-air personalities on CNN and MSNBC are starting to grumble out loud about the absurdity of their networks not calling the results. This is a farce.
It's been my observation that MSNBC and CNN are remarkably far removed from reality when it comes to what they think makes them look good. Even with their primary goal being ratings, they cost themselves ratings with a tone deaf approach.
For instance, CNN still thinks it can get higher ratings by having one Trump apologist on each panel, even though no Trump fan is going to watch CNN no matter what. MSNBC still thinks "both sides" narratives make it look balanced.
MSNBC and CNN are still taking heat (along with everyone else in the media) for having spent the entire 2016 election lying about Hillary's emails while going soft on Trump. They now seem to understand this, but they've learned the wrong lessons.
CNN and MSNBC seem to fear that if they call the 2020 election too quickly, viewers will see them as reckless, and think less of them. But they're actually being seen as reckless for dragging this out for no reason.
It's one thing to chase ratings at the potential expense of truthiness. Cable news pretty much has to do this, to hit high enough ratings marks to cover its huge operating expenses. It's another thing to dishonestly chase ratings in a stupid way that actually harms ratings.
When current CNN and MSNBC viewers look at back at the 2020 election a week, month, or year from now, the one thing they'll remember about CNN and MSNBC is that they inappropriately dragged out calling the result. People give up on their favorite network over that kind of thing.
These MSNBC and CNN on-air people are the ones the viewers trust. In their professional view, it's time to call the race. Yet a few guys hunkered in a back room are in charge of making the call instead. Why do they ask us to trust the judgment of these hosts, if they don't?
We all get that someone like Kornacki is looking at this more mathematically than the hourly hosts. But even Kornacki says he's not involved in calling states. So the hell are these people making the call, and why are they screwing up our election? Where's the accountability?
Eight hours ago I was trying to give MSNBC and CNN the benefit of the doubt. But with the numbers the way they are now, there is simply no mathematical excuse for waiting. They either mistakenly think this helps ratings, or they're cowering to Trump. It's an all-time fail.
Does this hurt Joe Biden? No. Won't affect him if his de facto presidency begins yesterday, today or tomorrow. Trump's conspiracy theories are going nowhere anyway. But it's hurting us. Give America our new President already, in this time of need. He's very clearly already won.

Every single thing that Trump does over the next 73 days will be about seeking a softer landing when it comes to the criminal charges, civil penalties, and financial troubles he's about to face once he leaves office. Everything else said by him, or about him, will just be noise.
Trump is "contesting" the election so he can fundraise off of it. If he threatens to refuse to leave office, it'll be in the hope he can negotiate some kind of leniency in exchange for leaving peacefully.
If Trump starts doing weird things or starts pushing a bombastic agenda, it'll be to distract us from whatever he's working on behind the scenes to try to give himself a prison-free and bankruptcy-free exit from office.

These dipshits at NBC are really going to make us wait for Saturday Night Live tonight until after the college football game ends, and then after local news airs? On this day of all days? At this historic moment? NBC, fuck you!
First NBC makes us wait all that extra time for the election results, and now they’re delaying SNL too? They’re not just ignorant, they’re stupid.
I’m a football fan. I understand this is the top team and the biggest star. But you still don’t do this, on this particular day. They could easily have bounced the game to MBCSN once it went into double overtime. Most Saturdays are about college football. Today isn’t.

Andrew Yang is MOVING TO GEORGIA to help facilitate the Democratic Party effort in the Senate runoff races there. The least you can do is throw in five bucks or do some phone banking for Ossoff and Warnock.

When the 2016 election cycle was first starting, I said that if Joe Biden ran, he'd be the nominee and he'd win – and that Biden's most likely running mate would be Kamala Harris. Based on all the evidence at the time, it felt like the most logical and likely outcome. And it was.
I'm not Nostradamus. I just look at evidence, as opposed to groupthink and hype. The numbers made clear from day one that Biden was the overwhelming frontrunner. And if you asked yourself who else in the primary field Biden would most logically end up picking, it was Kamala.
Even when Biden badly lost Iowa and New Hampshire, the numbers and evidence still made very clear that he would win South Carolina and Super Tuesday. His frontrunner status was never in doubt. Any hype to the contrary at the time was a misunderstanding of the evidence.

When major news outlets screw up and everyone gets pissed, they actually take it as point of pride. They think their unwillingness to fix it proves they’re not vulnerable to outside pressure.

It never even occurs to them that they might just be wrong.

Call the damn election.
The irony: the media IS responding to outside pressure. Going into this we demanded they not prematurely call it for Trump during the red mirage, and not let Trump call it for himself. Which they obliged. But now they’re afraid to call it for the actual winner.
It’s like training your dog not shit on the carpet, and the lesson your dog learns is that it shouldn’t ever take a shit again. And when you urge it to take a shit outside instead, it refuses to, and is proud of it.

I have zero interest in Trump's legal challenges. At these margins he has zero chance of litigating enough ballots to flip any states that would get him to 270. The litigation narrative is just cable news filler while we await more vote totals.
As I said before election day, Trump's only chance of litigating his way to victory would have been if the deciding state came down to a few hundred votes, like in the 2000 election. That's just not happening this time.
Even in the VERY VERY VERY unlikely scenario where Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona all come down to a few hundred votes, and he manages to flip them all in court, he still wouldn't be at 270. Next closest state for him would be Wisconsin, where he lost by 30,000 votes. Game over.
