Due to unforeseen circumstances, the regular Saturday AM episode of #DavesCarIDService, which was previously scheduled to be canceled today, has now been uncanceled for a special Extra Edition
Quick note: I am slowly winnowing through my car ID files in hopes of assembling a book, and I am sensitive to potential copyright issues. I'm crossing my fingers that you are OK with my use of your family album or wilderness/junkyard pics in this manner.
That said, in addition to the regular car ID request guidelines below, I ask that you only share photos that belong to you, or at least notify me that "please do not reprint" or "this is not my picture." Image
Legal mumbo-jumbo aside let's get to those pics, and inject this one straight in my veins. Not so much for the car, but everything in it. The car is a tough call, but I venture a circa 1930 Studebaker President; will work to confirm.
by the way Pike's Peak has long been a challenge for man & machine, and the annual Hill Climb there dates to 1916, almost as far back as the Indy 500. I imagine getting to the top in this photo involved at least one stop to adjust or rejet carburetor for elevation.
The batwing fins and cantilevered roof tell me Everett's car is a 1959 Chevy Impala 4 door hardtop. And I gotta say Pop is my new fashion muse.
Porkpie hat + ribbon bowtie + mid-torso waistline trousers + pencil mustache = a look that should never have gone out of style.
Todd here shares some some dandy vintage farm fam photos from my native Siouxland, which I will attempt to ID in order. Pretty sure what we have here is a 1923-24 Cadillac Model V63 phaeton, pretty darn fancy shmancy for Dakota sodbusters.
The humble 1918-22 Ford Model T coupe in the background is a little more expected as a farmer's vehicle, and note all those free farmhands.
Not a lot to go on here, but I strongly suspect a circa 1924 Dodge 4 door sedan. I can't tell you how many of these car pic give me hat envy.
A double dose of Buicks here amid the always scrappin' and rasslin' Buddy & George. Both are circa 1930 Buick Model 40s, a coupe up top and a sedan below (although a chance they could be Buick's discount brand Marquette).
Gotta say the horseplay antics of Buddy & George deserve some closeups ImageImage
Towing the corn sheller here is a ca. 1928 McCormick-Deering 10-20 tractor; too little here to ID car, but maybe the previously ID'd Buick coupe. The corn wagon it's pulling has a Ford Model T chassis under it, a typical fate for worn-out Ts.
McCormick-Deering and Titan were predecessors of / companions to International Harvester and Farmall, all part of Cyrus McCormick's mighty Chicago based farm equipment empire. You may recognize the name from Chicago's enormous McCormick Place.
Behold the look of awe, wonder, and giddy excitement of these Dakota folks step ashore on the magically land of Iowa. Car is a 1926-27 GM item, either Chevy, Pontiac, or Olds. I suspect site here is Big Sioux River near Akron, Iowa.
Thanks to Cynical Todd for sharing these terrific photos, but for future reference I generally prefer that you to space out your ID requests so that other customers don't have to wait so long in line.
Car on the right is too much of a blur, but I can say that the beige one on right displays all the quarter panel characteristics of a 1958 Oldsmobile.
Yes ma'am, your grandma is sitting on a 1919-23 Ford Model T open car, either a touring, roadster or RPU. I really love grandma's Paper Moon / Addie Pray tomboy vibe.
As a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, I must tip my lodge hat to these fez-festooned Shriners. I'm not as well versed in Jeeps as many of you, but I'll say early 50s M38 dressed up with fiberglass fenders and chrome portholes for extra parade beauty.
That's it for today. Until next time, Esso and Dave remind you to Put a Tiger In Your Tank! Image

Before diving into today's batch, and speaking of the fine arts, I am utterly tickled to learn that a previous car ID here has resulted in a published poem: "Mechanic in a Photograph Taken in 1940" by Tim DeJong.

I guess it's time for my quadrennial rant on sampling statistics.
Sampling statistics have a long and proud history in all kinds of applications, from medical studies to manufacturing to agriculture, and yes, for a while, in politics.
