Long-term care visits restricted.

Private gatherings now 5.

“Each and every one of these numbers represents a Saskatchewan person.”

Moe says the hospitalizations and ICU are going in the wrong direction.

Dr. Shahab calls it a “first sustained wave” and that it’s “rapidly accelerating.”

Says on average every case has 5 to 8 close contacts.

Calls this trend “not sustainable” #covid19sk
Govt not reducing capacity or placing restrictions on business, hospitality, worship or sports and activities.

Moe says that could change.
Shahab says modelling and epidemiology trends will be shared on Thursday.

Says daily cases could get to 300 a day but could turn around if people follow the guidelines.

He says if not more will need to be done.
Moe says there are consequences to a lockdown are “quite severe.”

Moe says initial lockdown cost 70k jobs and though 55k have returned 15k remain lost.

He says another lockdown would cost 10s of thousands. #covid19sk
Moe says he doesn’t regret the way mask policy has rolled out and says Sask. policy is among strongest in Western Canada.

He says feedback over weekend to MLAs and officials was that policy introduced Friday was confusing. Now it’s everywhere.
Moe asked why not a lockdown or circuit breaker to stop the virus spread.

Says he isn’t trading jobs for health.

Says it could get to a lockdown if things don’t improve.

“We aren’t going to eliminate it.” #COVID19SK
Moe says goal is to avoid a lockdown before Christmas.

Says he has confidence in Sask. people to do their part.
Dr. Shahab on restrictions: “Absolutely nothing is off the table.”

Says reducing gathering sizes and other things being reviewed.

Moe says this could be updated next week.
Moe: “I believe we don’t have to lockdown.”

Moe says he doesn’t have a number of infections or deaths that would cause the province to lockdown.
Dr. Shahab says effective reproductive number is 3 to 4. Which means that a infectious person is infecting on average 3 to 4 healthy people.

Shahab says everyone needs to bring down their contacts.

Question period stats with Ryan Meili asking something from a member of the public asking about Weyburn council decision and what’s being done. Min. Merriman says council is meeting today at 3. Next meeting is next Monday. #skpoli
Meili now asking if premier will declare Jan. 29 a day against hate and intolerance as was asked for by Muslim leaders who were in Sask. last week. Premier Moe says no place for Islamophobia, racism or hate of any kind. Says govt. has Jan. 29 day under consideration.
Moe says speaking out against hate and racism should happen every day. Meili asks why premier said he was not concerned with cabinet ministers attended yellow vest rallies where anti immigration and Muslim sentiments have been shared.
