Significant Weather Features based on 0830 hours of 22.11.2020
♦ The Deep Depression over southwest Arabian Sea moved rapidly west-southwestwards with a speed of 45 kmph during past 06 hours, intensified into a Cyclonic Storm “GATI”
and lay centred at 0830 hrs IST of today 22nd November 2020 over southwest Arabian Sea near Latitude 10.7° N and Longitude 53.8°E, about 210 km south of Socotra (Yemen), 290 km east-southeast of Ras Binnah (Somalia) and 360 km east-southeast of Alula (Somalia).
It is very likely to move west-southwestwards and intensify further into a severe cyclonic storm during next 12 hours. It is very likely to cross Somalia coast around 10.5° N (south of Ras Binnah (Somalia)) during the early hours of 23rd November as a severe cyclonic storm.
Since the system is away from the Indian coast it will not cause any adverse weather over Indian region.
♦ The Low Pressure Area over over southwest & adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal persists. It is very likely to concentrate into a depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours and intensify further into a cyclonic storm during subsequent 24 hours.
It is very likely to move northwestwards and cross Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram around 25th November 2020 noon/afternoon.
♦ Under the influence of above system, rainfall activity is likely to increase over extreme south Peninsula from 23rd onwards with fairly widespread to widespread activity over Tamilnadu during 24th-26th, over south Coastal AP, Rayalseema and Telangana on 25th & 26th November.
Isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal during 24th-25th November; over south Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalseema on 25th-26th November; over Telangana on 26th November, 2020.
♦ Fishermen are advised not to venture into Equatorial Indian Ocean & adjoining central parts of South Bay of Bengal on 22 Nov; into southwest & adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal, Gulf of Mannar, along & off Tamilnadu, Puduchery & south Andhra Pradesh coast between 22-25 Nov.

♦ The low pressure area over central parts of south Arabian Sea persists. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a Depression over southwest Arabian sea during next 48 hours.
Since the system is away from the Indian coast, it will not create any adverse weather over Indian region.
♦ A cyclonic circulation lies over Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal at lower levels. Under its influence, a low pressure area is very likely to form over central parts of South Bay of Bengal around 23rd November, 2020.
Significant Weather Features are:
♦ A cyclonic circulation lies over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal & adjoining North Andaman Sea between 1.5 & 4.5 km above mean sea level. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal by tomorrow,
the 31st October, 2020. It is likely to move towards Bangladesh coast during subsequent 48 hours.
♦ Under the influence of the above system, isolated heavy rainfall with moderate thunderstorm & lightning is likely over south Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram &
Tripura during 31st October-01st November, 2020.
♦ A cyclonic circulation lies over Tamil Nadu coast & adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal in lower & mid tropospheric levels.
♦ A cyclonic circulation lies over north Tamil Nadu-south Coastal Andhra Pradesh coasts & neighbourhood in lower & mid tropospheric levels.
Under its influence, scattered rainfall with moderate thunderstorm & lightning very likely over Kerala & Mahe and Tamilnadu & Puducherry during next 5 days with:
(i) Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over Tamilnadu during next 24 hours and isolated heavy rainfall on 30th October, 01st and 02nd November, 2020.
(ii) Isolated heavy rainfall over Kerala & Mahe on 01st & 02nd November, 2020 and over South Interior Karnataka on 02nd Nov.
♦ In view of significant reduction in rainfall activity over most parts of the country the Southwest monsoon has withdrawn from the entire country today the 28th October 2020.
♦ Simultaneously with the setting in of northeasterly winds in the lower tropospheric levels, the northeast monsoon rains has commenced over extreme south peninsular India today the 28th October 2020.
♦ A cyclonic circulation lies over Southwest Bay of Bengal off north Tamilnadu coast in lower & mid tropospheric levels.
