1/ Don't rely only on Product Hunt 🙏🏽

Got to say this:

🙌🏽 Sure, Product Hunt is great

🙄 But it is also quite unreliable

😑 Random "spam triggers", articles launched as products, etc.

👉🏽 You've got to diversify

🤦🏽‍♂️ I say this as a person who was himself too reliant on PH

2/ So, let's talk about Reddit 😍

Firstly, find the right subreddit:

😡 Most subreddits aren't supportive of link drops

🥳 But "r/InternetIsBeautiful" encourages it

💪🏽 It's massive with 15mn+ members

🤗 People are quite supportive

🎉 Many past posts had become super viral

3/ Keeping it simple 😋

😬 Noticed most headlines simply conveyed the offering

❌ No buzzwords, no marketing copy

👉🏽 Also, a couple of past viral posts had phrased it as "I made..."

🚀 Overall, something phrased as a list did well

4/ So, I implemented it 👇🏽

✅ I phrased it simply, starting with "I made 100 high-quality illustrations, totally free."

❌ So, no mention of:

🎨 A color picker

🔍 Easy search & gender filters

🖖🏽 Illustration styles

🔧 Product built in NoCode, etc.

5/ Then the virality 🤯

In total:

✅ 24,400 upvotes

✅ 704 comments

✅ ~147,000 users

What that they liked:

👌🏽 Illustrations were actually great

🆓 Yet being given for free

🥳 That too w/o attribution

😊 Maybe, the generosity of it?
