#TukaramOmble
How many of you know abt him?
When thousands of jellyfish washed ashore by Arabian Sea stung visitors on the Girgaum Chowpatty, a constable on duty worked tirelessly to keep people off the beach. When few heeded his warning he went home and read up on the creature.
The next day, he went to the beach with a bagful of lemons, bought with his own money, and administered lime juice on every sting injury as he had read it would provide relief.
This incident was probably a glimpse of the rare quality that led the same man, assistant SI Tukaram Omble, to pounce on a gun-toting terrorist in the wee hours of November 27, and pin him down bare-handed, inspite of five bullets lodged in his body.
Going beyond the defined call of duty was characteristic of 54-year-old Omble, attached to DB Marg police station, whose heroic effort helped police nab one of the 26/11 attackers, Lashkar operative Mohammed Ajmal Amir Qasab, alive near Girgaum Chowpatty.
Ravananugraha-Murti depicts #LordShiva seated on his abode Mount Kailash with his consort, Parvati while the demon king Ravana, of Lanka tries to shake it. The depiction is labelled variously as Ravana Lifting Mount Kailash or Ravana Shaking Mount Kailash.
Legend - Ravana once tried to lift Mount Kailash but Lord Shiva pushed the mountain into place and trapped him beneath it. Ravana gave a loud cry in pain. Then, for a thousand years, the imprisoned Ravana sang hymns in praise of Lord Shiva who finally blessed him.
Lord Shiva granted him an invincible sword and a powerful linga (Shiva's aniconic symbol, Atmalinga) to worship. Since Ravana cried, he was given the name "Ravana" – one who cried.

Once Hanuman saw Sita applying sindhoor to her hair. He asked her what purpose it served to which Sita replied that it was for the well being and long life of Lord Rama. Hearing this, Hanuman smeared his entire body with sindhoor for the long life of Lord Rama.
Lord Rama was really impressed by this and granted a boon that those who worship Lord Hanuman in the future with sindhoor, would see all their difficulties go away. Hence Hanuman’s idol is always coated with sindhoor.

During the 1st night of vanvaas, Nidra, the Goddess of sleep visited Lakshman but he requested her to let him be awake for 14yrs so he could protect his brother and sister-in-law. She agreed on the condition that somebody will have to take his place and sleep for 14years.
The #Ramayana is one of the two great epics of Hinduism. It is not just a story of good and evil. There are very important teachings that we need to learn from the great epic. It describes that materialistic and sensual pleasures are a natural part of human life.
But at the same time, Dharma must not be compromised in any way in order to attain these other pleasures. It puts great emphasis on the ideal of Dharma or righteousness; an ideal that each person must practice in their lives.
It teaches us the importance of morality and justice. The Ramayana also depicts the duties of relationships, portraying ideal characters like the ideal father, son, husband, brother, friend and the king. The character of #LordRama is a perfect example of these qualities.
Strong observations by Supreme Court's Hon'ble Justice:
We are dealing with personal liberty here. If we don't interfere, we will walk on the path of destruction.
#MaaDurga #Mahishasurmardini
The story goes like this. Mahishasur (buffalo-demon) was born to the king of Asuras, Rambha, a demon, who had boons which made him unconquerable among Asuras and Devas. Lord Shiva granted him a boon that no man or deity would be able to kill him.
He then started his reign of terror over the Universe. He even attacked the abode of the Gods and conquered the heavens. As the Gods chafed at their defeat and humiliation, they took refuge under Lord Brahma, who took them to Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu.
The only solution was the creation of a woman who possesses the ultimate power to defeat Mahishasur. The three Gods, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva – combined their divine energy and created a feminine form of a glaring light.
