#Matang , मातंग
The forgotten caste of jainsim
is a Dalit caste , We can trace the origin of Matangs in Indus valley civilization. Matangs have very rich & ancient history and we can find references in ancient Jain literture.
#jaingem #Jainism #Thread
@truejainology @rajamaka
They are spread across maharashtra , Telangana , karnataka .
In andhra they are also known as madhiga ".
Meaning of word matang is - elephant.
In indian culture word matang is considered as a good ( सुभ ) word.
Even today in remote villages of maharashtra
@JainMaggii
If one sight's a matang , they consider it as a good luck (सुभ शकुन) .
Their basic work is to safeguard the villages(security) , making of ropes and brooms.
Whenever something good or new things marriages etc happens, ppl first invite matang, considering them as a good luck.
According to Jain literature, Vinami, was the great grandson of Rishabh the first Teerthankar of Jainism. Vinami's son Matang was the founder of Matang race, later on 7 branches came out of matang.
One of among those were varshmulik vansh whose symbol was of snake( nagavansh)
Tirthankar suparshwnath's and Mahavir bhagwan's yaksha was a matang .

Acharya Harikeshi, Maiterya, Chitta and Sambhuti were some of famous Jain Ascetics from Matang Community. Their biography and work is given in Uttaradhyayan Sutra, the famous Prakrit text of Jains.
World famous Ellora cave no 31
Mahavir Swami. The idol is seated in a padmasan position The figure of yaksha Matanga on an elephant is on the left side of shrine and one of yakshi Siddhaiki, seated on a lion with a child on her lap, is on the right.
Great aacharya samantbhadra swami has also mentioned name of matang in granth ratnakrand shravakchaar ‘सम्यग्दर्शन संपन्न मातंग देवतुल्य होता है’.
Such was the great and rich history of this caste and today in india they are considered as backward class, with no links to Jainism
Jainism is totally vanished from matangs .
But lately with immense efforts of few alert and responsible personalities like Mr vitthal sathe
Who heads the organisation named
"jain vichar manch"
Is working relentlessly to bring back matang to their roots.
Hats-off to ur efforts
The result of such efforts are that
Today many matang are aware of their rich past history and from whose linage they belong to
They even celebrated mahavir jayanti
They have started going to temple and have even constructed their own jain temple in nidad, satara.
Jai jinendra 🙏

🙏🏼 'KSHULLAK' GANESHPRASAD VARNI

Ganesh Prasad ji Varni (1874–1961) was one of the foundational figures of the modern Indian Digambara intellectual tradition during the early 20th century.
Read the thread to know how much he has done for jains.

He was the founder of several schools and institutions of advanced learning. He was born in Lalitpur (UP), who belonged to the Asati community(mostly Vaishnava), his father had a deep faith in the Namokar Mantra. He used to live in a Jain neighbourhood and visit the Jain temple
near his house in Mandawara. Influenced by lectures there, at the age of ten, he took a vow to take meals before sunset throughout his life. During his yajnopavita ceremony, he had an argument with the priest & his mother, and declared that he will be a Jain henceforth.

A great forgotten Gem of Jainism #sameer_muni
Who successfully inculcate great values of jainsim and it's ahimsa into the live's of khatik samaj (butcher's) of rajasthan.
Who started their day with slaughtering animals and ended their day with alcohol.
Thread cont...
#JainGem
Butcher's who's life was nothing but to slaughter innocent animals and sell them into cities and earn living.
Looking at such violent nature muni thought to teach them lessons of ahimsa so that they can get rid of the killing of innocent animals.
Tirthankar's teaching of hating the paap (sin) and not the paapi (sinner) was the base of this foundation which was started by muni on 1st May 1958 by including the dalits and khatik( butcher) and ignored of the society n named them

Jain's pay attention 💥
Ministry of culture has set up an Expert committee for the Holistic study of origin & evolution of Indian culture since 12,000 years. Not a single JAIN representative in the list. Neither Buddhist.
Nor can you see the words Prakrit, Pali, Brahmi anywhere.
What is happening?
Are we heading towards learning FALSE HISTORY again? See all the Name's and judge for yourself the outcome.
Will any scholar from this list present the Jain side of history? That too without any bias?
This is a call out to representatives of all the JAIN ORGANIZATIONS and influential people, activists to write to the Union Minister of State for Culture & Tourism - Shri @prahladspatel and to our PM - Shri @narendramodi questioning them about this major lapse.

The teacher asked in the class: What is it called a sign of love in the world

The whole class shouted in one voice: ′′ Taj Mahal ′′
Only one student said: ′′ Ram Setu "!
′′ What do you want to say?" the teacher woke him up.
Cont... Image
Student stood up and said, ′′ Ram Setu Prabhu Shriram made his wife to bring back other's land without taking possession of other's land, and Lord Shriram gave full respect to the people who built the bridge, without cutting hands
Need to evaluate our history again.

We don't want to modernise our
tirthkshetra in the name of such #NoSeaPlaneInShatrunjay
By introduction of such things to boost tourism.
With yatri's there will come a loads of other tourists too.
Who will be doing trekking on the pious mountain rather we will be doing vandana. Image
Now what happens here is we don't have any problem with any of visitors visiting the holy place.
But once u count it as a tourist place tourist start coming who don't give damn about the decorum of the place.
And this how a pious , holy and highly spiritual vibrations place,
Turns into an ordinary place slowly with time,
Ppl may eat nonveg food ovr thr
Same thing happened with shikarji where they were planning to introduce helicopter rides .
It,ll be more of adventurous ride than a yatra.
Next generation kids will do darshan of Temple from TOP only.
