My beautiful brother has Down Syndrome. I've been taking care of him since our father was hospitalized with heart failure. He has #COVIDー19 and today he struggled to breathe. I brought him to the hospital and he was taken in without me. I've never been more worried. 💔 #COVIDAB
Got an update from the hospital. They said they might need to put him on a ventilator. I'm breaking down. I'm not even allowed to be with him.
We always wore masks. We always washed our hands. We did our best to limit our exposure and ordered in just about everything. I love him more than anything in the world. Please, anyone, send my beautiful brother positive vibes. He needs it.
I beseech the @UCPCaucus and @CMOH_Alberta to please listen to @drdagly. This didn't have to happen. Alberta can and should do better. My brother deserves better.
My beloved brother is being transferred to the ICU. I am beside myself. Everything is so surreal. I know I'm speaking in to the void but I could really use some support. Now more than ever I wish @RachelNotley was Premier. @DShepYEG #abpoli #ableg #COVID19AB
I am so grateful for the outpouring of support. I am absolutely gobsmacked. Thank you so much. I received a call from the hospital and they've put him on a ventilator now. I can't stop crying.
I wanted to include a photo of my brother, Rigil and I. I'm typically a very private person but I wanted to show the world the wonderful man we're all supporting. ❤️
Spoke to a nurse. She said he's sedated and stable, and the ventilator is only doing part of the work. His lungs are still working. This is welcome news. Please stay safe everyone. My brother is only 28 years old and he was healthy. This can happen to anyone.
I don't know if I'll sleep tonight but I'm beyond grateful to the unbelievable kindness of many offering their thoughts, prayers and love. I didn't know people could be so wonderful and supportive. Thank you. I promise to keep everyone updated. We are in this together now. ❤️
Good morning. Spoke to the nurse and confirmed the doctor came by. The ventilator is on normal settings, Rigil opens his eyes sometimes and is cooperative. They expect he'll be on the ventilator for a few days but they're constantly monitoring him and at the moment he's stable.
The doctor called me. My heart was leaping out of my chest. He said Rigil was responding well but he didn't know how long he'd be on the ventilator. Days, maybe weeks. But he was encouraged by the fact Rigil hasn't had a fever the whole time he's been in the hospital. #COVID19AB
