All public places have a mask mandate, except schools. Masks are required in hallways but not classroom. Classes are 2.5 hrs. Students eat in hallways with no masks. 30 in classes.

@yaneerbaryam @CovidActionGrp @JoeBiden @usatodayopinion 2/ Physical distancing is recommended not required. Classes are so full, not able to distance. Cohorts in Secondary are 120. Only layer of protection is hand sanitizer, & washing hands. Guidance doesn’t recognize virus is aerosolized.Won’t give data on student/teacher infections.

@yaneerbaryam @CovidActionGrp @JoeBiden @usatodayopinion 3/ Classes have multiple students infected but if students say they are friends outside of school, it is categorized as a community transmission, to keep school transmission low.They changed the definition of an outbreak, so it’s virtually impossible for it to be labeled as such.

@yaneerbaryam @CovidActionGrp @JoeBiden @usatodayopinion 4/ When a class is asked to self-isolate, for 10 days, they are told not to get tested. If students get sick, it is not counted in data as there’s no positive test & claim no school transmission (even though they sit in an enclosed, poorly ventilated, room together for 5 hours).

@yaneerbaryam @CovidActionGrp @JoeBiden @usatodayopinion 5 The govt then claims they are justified in their guidance because school transmissions are low (by design). There’s over 10800 people isolating at home, and they won’t tell us how many are students and teachers. Our media is doing nothing to prove or shine light on any of this.

@yaneerbaryam @CovidActionGrp @JoeBiden @usatodayopinion 6/ Our union is doing very little. We have a supposedly Labour friendly govt (NDP) and there seems to be some sort of an agreement between the unions and govt. Please help.
