Today is the day that it really sunk in that all levels of Govt in 🇨🇦 are prepared to let the masses get infected.

They haven’t educated citizens or Health Care Workers about long COVID either. Our govts are knowingly doing nothing to stop a Health Hazard. 💔 This is not my 🇨🇦. Please educate someone about Long COVID.

Health Act requires Provinces provide data to Stats Can.

In BC, the @CDCofBC only counts people who die within 30 days of getting COVID as dying as COVID. Vascular disease takes > 30 days to kill.

@GovCanHealth requires all + COVID cases that die be reported.
#cdnpoli #bcpoli 2/ Means @GovCanHealth must have accurate data unless Min of Health is withholding it? And if so, Feds should fine BC until they start meeting FED & OECD standards. FOIPA data?

Vascular diseases takes longer to damage the young. It’s still COVID death though. They just hide it.

1/🧵Important Thread

For those working in unsafe conditions, this thread highlights which sections of the Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Act may apply to your situation. You can highlight them in an unsafe work claim. It’s BC specific but may apply elsewhere. #bced #bcpoli 2/ BCCDC creates guidance for employers, and employers can choose which aspects of the guidance they want to use in their safety plan.

Guidance is not law, it’s a suggestion.

The OHS Act is law and it TRUMPS any BC CDC guidance. Important distinction.

1/ The @CDCofBC provided a single link as scientific evidence for their #bced plan.

When you click on link, it doesn’t even take you to study, it takes you to a picture of study.

Go to page 18, and click on National and International studies. #bcpoli

bccdc.ca/Health-Info-Si… 2/ Here’s the actual study that @CDCofBC references. You’ll notice that the study stresses the CRITICAL importance of following IPAC mitigations in order to keep schools safe.

1-This is a thread 🧵 that looks at the annotated bibliography that the @CDCofBC provided for their back to school plan. They didn't expect you to click on the links and read it because if you do, you'll find a very different outlook than what they suggest. #bced #bcpoli #COVID19 2- Wayback machine says this document has been worked on as recently at Aug 16th, 2021 which makes me think it is what they are using for schools this year. Unbelievably none of the references are from 2021, before we knew COVID is airborne.

Dear @BCNDPCaucus,
✴️By now you may have heard that BC has not been following what peer reviewed science is saying.
✴️You may have also learned that the @CDCofBC is deliberately not contact tracing or collecting data in #bced so they can say that schools are safe.
#bced #bcpoli 2/
✴️Review my twitter feed for past year & you will see all the scientific studies that show that BC is not following the science.
✴️Key facts we are ignoring: the virus is aerosolized and Health Care workers and essential workers need N95s to stay safe, particularly with VoCs.

If I were @jjhorgan, I would:
1. Create an ind panel of experts from across 🇨🇦 (Epidemiologist PhD, ICU MDs, Stats, Eng, Aerosol, etc).
2. Ask Fed Govt for Emerg support
3. Ramp up testing & Sequencing
4. Use Prov, & municipal govt employees for contact tracing. #bcpoli #bced 5. Install @DrVictoriaLeeFH as the new PHO.
6. Fire P. Daly, R. Gustafson and DBH for endangering the lives of BCians and dereliction of duty.
7. Develop standards that are clear and based on science.
8. Hire new a new comms team.
9. Adopt #COVIDzero
10. Revise #bced guidelines.

1/Feeling a bit reflective today. Bunch of us have been advocating for better safety measures for #bced since last May. We were attacked by our own Prov union, our own locals refused to press for science, SDs hauled teachers in, & the media belittled us for asking to science. 2/ We haven’t changed our stance since last May.
We’ve been right about:
✅Masks
✅Ventilation
✅Schools ⬆️ transmission with ⬆️community spread
✅Asymptomatic spread
✅Virus being airborne
✅Test-Trace-Isolate
✅Long-Covid
✅MIS-C
✅#COVIDzero
✅GBD in BC

1/ Today, let’s discuss the term gross negligence. Why you may be asking?

Because it would appear that Superintendents and Trustees need to be reminded of their fiduciary responsibilities —to their staff and students.

bclaws.gov.bc.ca/civix/document… #bced #bcpoli Image 2/ #BCed is an essential service.

#BCed staff are also considered frontline workers, and as such, are required, by law, to receive the SAME standard of care as other frontline workers.

Students owed a duty of care from the @bcndp, too.

1/ I find it gobsmacking that there are journalists that can’t seem to comprehend that BC is deliberately under testing so the @bcndp can say our numbers are low— go out & shop.

The numbers testing positive are deliberately low, but there are thousands in BC with COVID. #bcpoli 2/ BC’s dashboard has claimed that we were in the 400 to 600 range for the past week.

The University of Washington projections say that we should have approx. 4266 positive cases in BC.

That means there are thousands of BCians who are positive and don’t know it. #bcpoli

BC’s Ro value is currently higher than Alberta’s.

All students in Alberta will be starting school online on Monday. They also have a mask mandate in classrooms in Alberta as well.

Ontario Ed is also all online.

I thought BC’s #bced plan was “aligned” with the other Provinces? Ontario is delaying school opening.

At the last press conference Dr. Henry described an aerosolized virus but did not call it one. Why?

CDC says the main way COVID-19 infects is through aerosols.

The #bced plan has no protections for an aerosolized virus.

Soap & hand sanitizer do not protect against aerosols. 2/
-Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec & Nova Scotia all have mask mandates in classrooms.
-WHO, CDC & Health Canada all recommend masks in classrooms.
-There is no scientific, logical or moral reason why masks are not mandated in #bced classrooms.
-Only 1 questionable reason.

@yaneerbaryam @CovidActionGrp @JoeBiden @usatodayopinion 1/ We, the parents, staff & students in the #bced education system need some advocacy & support.

All public places have a mask mandate, except schools. Masks are required in hallways but not classroom. Classes are 2.5 hrs. Students eat in hallways with no masks. 30 in classes. @yaneerbaryam @CovidActionGrp @JoeBiden @usatodayopinion 2/ Physical distancing is recommended not required. Classes are so full, not able to distance. Cohorts in Secondary are 120. Only layer of protection is hand sanitizer, & washing hands. Guidance doesn’t recognize virus is aerosolized.Won’t give data on student/teacher infections.

Let’s create a list of questions that the media should ask Dr. Henry —but won’t.

1. Do you think the virus is aerosolized?

2. Is BC using schools for herd immunity?

3. What peer reviewed science justifies not having a mask mandate in #bced?

Feel free to add.

#bced #bcpoli 4. Why are there no layers of protection to deal with asymptomatic spread in #bced?

5. Dr. Fauci warned 🇨🇦 that we’d never get our community spread under control unless we start testing asymptomatic people. Why aren’t we?

6. How many clods have visited a hospital w/ C19 issues?

1/ This is the section of the LRB that the @bctf needs to enact in order to protect #bced.

Some claim they cannot do it as members have not created motions to do so; however, the Executive decided to go to the LRB unilaterally in Sept and without motions. They can do it again. Image 2/ There is a threshold that they need to prove is being met so that they can withdraw services and it not be considered a strike.

There are loads of ways they can do provide the evidence.

Much of the minimization that took place looks similar to what transpired here in #bced.

The parallels between the US and BC are a bit jaw dropping.

1/Thread: Let’s play a game #bced!

The MofE has stated that they are following the Denmark school model.

Game: Truth or Lie

I will place some quotes, from articles, about the Denmark #Edu model and you will guess whether you think this is actually happening in BC.

#bcpoli 2/ Remember that the MofEd has promised British Columbians that after the Exam debacle, that they would ensure that every statement that comes out of their office would be vetted by a top Ministry official and be honest. #bced #bcpoli

If I were @jjhorgan, today I would:

1. Mandate masks in schools.
2. Shift schools to online learning in Fraser Health and Van Coastal.
3. Direct School Districts to use Federal Money to reduce class sizes and fix HVACs.

‼️Court case wouldn’t be necessary.

#bced #bcpoli #Lead How "layers of protection" have changed since March. In order:

1) Distance
2) Masks
3) Ventilation

Hand washing etc is no longer in the top 3. When people state that masks are the weakest layer , they are out of date.

Schools are back at full capacity tomorrow. Teachers don’t feel safe and feel abandoned.

Parent court case tomorrow, too.

Important day. Time to lead @jjhorgan and have difficult conversations. Do what’s right, ask to see science and use Precautionary Principle in #bced. These 78 world renown epidemiologists, scientists, paediatricians, & medical doctors from Stanford summarize what is accepted in science for schools, @jjhorgan. None of this science is being used in #bced and this will be your legacy if you don’t step in. Last chance.
