“BUT BUT BUT—HOSPITAL BEDS AREN’T FULL” is the insanest & dumbest excuse I’ve heard—but I’ve heard it countless times from leaders just as @ASlavitt has.
If hospital beds free, should we forget:
📌seat belt laws?
📌Bike helmet laws?
📌Smoking rules?
📌COVID restrictions?
2) But a record 101,487 people are indeed currently hospitalized with #COVID19.
3) And yes, I reposted because I used an inappropriate word, for which I apologize. Been exhausted and frustrated beyond words. But no excuse. I am sincerely sorry.
4) Too late, hospitals are overloaded now. Closing down based on ICU will always be too little and too late of a strategy.
TOOTH LOSS is one symptom of #LongCovid. Congressman Louie Gohmert’s tooth just came out during a speech. He had #COVID19 many months ago. Many reports of COVID-related tooth lose in NYT, as well as documented by @Survivor_Corps@dianaberrent.
BREAKING—Rudy Giuliani confirms on WABC radio that Jenna Ellis (seen to his left) has tested positive for #COVID19. Giuliani is currently hospitalized at Georgetown. All while Rudy tried to tell his witness to **take off her mask** last week.
2) Rudy infected Jenna Ellis because he was already infectious at the hearings in Michigan and Georgia.
3) Giuliani was also without mask next to Jenna Ellis at a crowded Michigan and Georgia hearings on Thursday too, where he had had audible GI flatulence in middle of hearing.
DEADLIEST WEEK ON RECORD—US averaged 201,756 #COVID19 cases a day in the last week & a **record of 2,249 deaths/day**, beating the previous 7-day average death toll of 2,232 set in April.
But hey, there’s supposed to be no more COVID after Nov 4th right? on.mktw.net/3oDPVbT
2) the positive news is that the vaccines are on their way. And they work pretty well. But rollout will be slow.
Breaking—FDA analysis of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine data found that the #COVID19 vaccine worked well regardless of a volunteer’s race, weight or age, and offered strong immunity protection within 10 days of first dose. Approval may come by end of week. nytimes.com/2020/12/08/hea…
2) “New coronavirus cases quickly tapered off in the vaccinated group of volunteers about 10 days after the first dose, according to one graph in the briefing materials. In the placebo group, cases kept steadily increasing.”
See figure I dug up and labeled:
3) And the vaccine’s efficacy was maintained across age groups, genders, race groups, ethnicities, and countries! Pretty consistent across the board so far.
📍Everyone needs to read this 40-year saga of Dr Katalin Karikó, inventor of the mRNA therapy behind Pfizer/BioNTech & Moderna #COVID19 vaccines. Rejected many times, nevertheless she persisted. She will win the Nobel Prize. Oh she’s an *immigrant* too! telegraph.co.uk/global-health/…
3) The biggest hope is that mRNA therapy can cure or treat other diseases too. Its fundamentally a delivery mechanism for making proteins de novo based on a set of genetic code (to make the spike protein of #SARSCoV2 in this case), but can be retooled later for other illnesses.
📌Johnson & Johnson—still in testing. **Single dose** & no freezing needed.
Both expected in early 2021.
3) Three Chinese and Russian vaccines all got early approvals after phase 2 results while Phase 3 underway. This is very different from US/European approach to approve after P3 results. The 🇷🇺Gamaleya vaccine reported 92% efficacy but in very limited cases—unreliable data so far.
