2/My decision pertained to recent comments made by Trump attny Joe DiGenova that @C_C_Krebs should be “drawn and quartered” and “taken out at dawn and shot.”

DiGeova later said his comments were in "jest". I unequivocally reject that excuse.

3/Lawyers have responsibilities that extend beyond the interests of our clients. We are held to a high standard to ensure we advocate for the interests of justice, and that certainly means we refrain from rhetoric or vitriolic statements that could bring harm to a third party.

4/Having been the recipient of death threats for simply doing my job, I am particularly sensitive to the dangers espoused by careless or intentional comments filled with hate.

This is real stuff. People can get hurt.

5/While law enforcement response is appreciated and necessary, it can't always prevent the danger.

But we can by strongly responding to those who create the atmosphere in the first place.

It is our moral, if not legal, responsibility.

6/Law Professor @JonathanTurley feels differently. To him, WE are are the threat, especially he views DiGenova's comments as "clearly meant to be a joke." I stand by my original comments as to anyone who reaches that interpretation. Sad to see.

END/I am proud to stand w/1500+ lawyers who see threats as what they are rather than as jokes.

While I will not be deterred by threats in rep'ing #whistleblowers, neither will I stand idly by when other lawyers effectively sanction misconduct.
