Initial thoughts on the election, a thread:

While we do not know the results of the election, the fact that it is this close is a devastating exposure of the Democratic Party, a right-wing party of Wall Street and the military. 1/

The Democrats had no policy to address the central issue in the election: the coronavirus pandemic and the mass social crisis that has been produced by the bipartisan policy of the ruling elite. There was no “New Deal,” just the continuation of the same. 2/

This is not just a question of one election. The Democrats, the oldest capitalist party in the world, long ago rejected any policy of social reform. The election of Trump in 2016 was bound up with this and the right-wing politics of the Obama administration. 3/

Most notable about the soporific #Debates2020 is that is being conducted as if this is a normal election, that it is not being held under conditions of a massive breakdown of political institutions of American capitalism. What is the reality? 1/

The president of the United States is actively conspiring to foment right-wing violence and override the results of the elections, depending on his position in the White House and control over the apparatus of the state. 2/

A pandemic that has killed more than 210k people in the United States, as a result of the criminal policies of the entire ruling class, with neither party proposing anything besides the continuation of the back-to-work and back-to-school campaign. 3/

3) Colin Powell, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff during the 2003 invasion of Iraq. At the United Nations, provided the case for the Bush administration, consisting of lies, to launch a war that killed hundreds of thousands of people.

1. On Wednesday, a federal judge in the Eastern District of Michigan denied the Socialist Equality Party’s challenge to the state’s 12,000 physical signature ballot access requirement during the coronavirus pandemic. wsws.org/en/articles/20…

2. Cox issued his ruling as the deadly #coronavirus pandemic is spiraling out of control. More than 61,000 people tested positive yesterday in the US, a new record, and the daily death toll is approaching 1,000.

3. Hospitals in Texas, Florida and Arizona are overwhelmed, and nurses are again facing critical shortages of personal protective equipment and ventilators. Cases are increasing in most states, including in Michigan, where they are at levels not seen since the end of May.
