I’ve been getting (and asking) lots of questions about #covid cases at the @SDConventionCtr shelter & the status of the county's hotel program.

No new @SDConventionCtr #s to share (yet) but as of Wednesday, 115 shelter residents had received positive tests in the last week.
Here’s the latest I can share on @SanDiegoCounty's hotel program: The county says it now has access to 804 hotel rooms it can offer people who have covid/have been exposed who don't have a safe place to isolate or who are particularly vulnerable homeless San Diegans.
Chief Nursing Officer Denise Foster told me that, as of this morning, 387 people were staying in the county’s two covid hotels and 292 were homeless. This includes dozens of homeless San Diegans who tested positive for covid or were exposed at the @SDConventionCtr shelter.
Foster told me at least 200 people have moved into the county’s covid hotel rooms in the last week. She said the county now has access to two hotels and hopes to open a third and fourth for these purposes.
Here's a bit more context on the county's hotel program, which is now operated by contractor Equus: voiceofsandiego.org/topics/governm…
.@SanDiegoCounty also just shared these #coronavirus case numbers for our homeless population along with a release about today's record number of positive cases.

This time last week, there were 471 reported cases in the region's homeless population.
