Yellow/Green line delays inbound @ Fort Totten due to unexpected loss of 3rd rail power. #wmata
#wmata Yellow/Green Line trains are single-tracking around an area of track that is currently w/o 3rd rail power (down unexpectedly). Southbound Green Line train 502 is stick at the moment, unable to move, between Fort Totten and Georgia Ave b/c of this.
Update: one train approaching Fort Totten (YL/308) and another approaching Georgia Ave (GR/502) are both stuck without 3rd rail power. MTPD on scene @ Fort Totten and might evacuate passengers from 308 due to its close proximity tot he station. #wmata
YL/GR trains continue single-tracking between @ Fort Totten & Georgia Ave
MTPD on scene are working through how to safely evacuate passengers from both trains YL/308 and GR/502 which are disabled w/o 3rd rail power #wmata
On top of YL/GR single-tracking & 2 trains with passengers onboard stuck w/o 3rd rail power, #wmata was planning on switching ROCC facilities at 9p tonight after a weekly cleaning.
#wmata has 2 vent and 2 fan shafts located between Georgia Ave & Fort Totten; if necessary, these could be possible egress routes for passengers onboard GR/502 - ~3500ft from Georgia Ave, ~4400 ft from Fort Totten.
DCFEMS Engine 14 (probably now w/more) is on scene @ Fort Totten. With #wmata staff, they will be evacuating the 7 passengers from YL/308 located just outside Fort Totten to the station platform. Unsure how GR/502 will be worked.
It remains unclear based on #wmata radio traffic how they intend to evacuate passengers off train GR/502 which has been holding between Fort Totten & Georgia Ave for 75 minutes.
YL/GR update: A #wmata rail supervisor is escorting DCFEMS personnel from Georgia Ave the ~3500 feet to the disabled GR/502 train stuck in the tunnel. The plan appears to be to walk everybody onboard the train back to Georgia Ave.
YL/GR update: MTPD personnel have offloaded the disabled GR/502 train stuck between Fort Totten & Georgia Ave & everybody is walking back to Georgia Ave. 502 has been holding for 98 minutes. #wmata
YL/GR update: All 13 passengers onboard GR/502 are now at Georgia Ave.
YL/GR service remains suspended w/bus bridge between West Hyattsville & Columbia Heights.
Unsure if/how #wmata will do the "meet for the last train tonight @ L'Enfant/Metro Center.
#wmata has restored power on both tracks between Fort Totten & Georgia Ave. GR/502 has reached Georgia Ave, YL/308 has yet to reach Fort Totten. The last trains of the evening have yet to finish their runs; check dcmetrohero.com if you're hoping to catch one of these.
#wmata is restoring service @ McPherson Square on the OR/SV/BL lines after an earlier red signal violation. Safety, Track, and ATC personnel have finished their initial investigation and found minimal/no damage.
The kitten is laying on a lightbulb "trying to stay warm" next to the inbound Yellow/Green track at Fort Totten, per #wmata radio. Trains continue to single-track via the outbound track. Did somebody at CSX let Chessie out and forget to check the fence for holes?
I was chatting with a ROCC source back in September after Woodruff was moved and Wiedefeld announced the lawfirm investigation. I asked if they & peers would be comfortable talking with the lawfirm for its investigation. The answer was "no" #wmata
Not being able to substantiate claims made by various ROCC staff doesn't mean those events didn't exist.
Personally curious to see what "exoneration" of Woodruff and Harris mean to #wmata employees, morale, and their perception of the safety/HR reporting processes.
