Allow me tell this story well...

So a pregnant woman, after 5 years of trial to get pregnant, finally gets pregnant. When she finally got to term (to deliver) baby was in a wrong presentation and baby was big (known as Fetal Malpresentation and Macrosomia). We advised for CS....
aka Cesarean Section and this woman said "Ok I have heard". Just for her to head back to a TBA (Traditional Birth Attendant) who told her "Nonsense! You won't do CS! Come let me turn this baby for you so you can deliver by yourself!". And the TBA performed a procedure known as...
External Cephalic Version, a procedure that is performed only by OBGYNs and done under strict clinical monitoring.

After this was done, her water broke, and out came the umbilical cord, leading to Cord Prolapse and Compression.

They now BACK came to us for CS.. LoL 🤣
By the time we got to the theater, we also discovered that besides the Cord Compression and Prolapse, the baby also had the Cord around the neck and was strangled in the womb. A whole healthy, beautiful, fair female 4.2kg baby was delivered DEAD ON ARRIVAL!
Now imagine if this woman has obliged for Cesarean Section in the first place, chances are too great that she'd be having her first baby alive right now.

Learn to make healthy choices as a Pregnant Woman.

STOP VISITING TBAs. Nigerians when will you hear word?!
TBAs in Nigeria's present setup lack the necessary skills or knowledge to perform live births, and lack the ability to differentiate between Normal and Complicated Pregnancies. The AUDACITY. Even a GP won't attempt ECV without OBGYN guidance but imagine a TBA performing one.
What's my own sef?! I'm just putting this out here so that others who do put the their lives and the lives of their babies (their future) in the hands of unregulated quacks will desist and have a little bit of common sense. One day monkey go enter market, e no go come back.

End.
Came BACK* to us for CS. Also, please pardon my sarcasm there with the laughter. Thank You 🙏🏽
PS: I apologise for not being so empathetic in this thread. I guess I wrote this with all the rage, pain and regret I have seen in the eyes of these Pregnant Women who lost lives and I displayed that rage and pain by passing a hard message with hard sarcasm.

I'm sorry 😔😔😔

I always bragged that I was the type of guy who never misses a flight, having kept a track record of prompt arrivals for my flights for over 7 years.

Well, it only happened that my Village People were asleep on my matter then suddenly woke up on my first flight to the USA. 😭😭
So here's what really happened. I had just gotten US visa (more on this later) and of course I was excited that I was going to visit the United States of freaking America! I was looking at my passport like "I have made it life abeg". Man was well pleased.
So I packed my bags to get ready (carried two bags, one empty to be filled for the return trip) and then I booked my flight. At this point I didn't know that my village people had just given me a Social Security number which they'd use to track me.

I booked Qatar Airways.

We have been asked to sit at home because of the #COVID Pandemic and I'm sure most of us feel safe staying at home, but the truth is, the home front is where quite a number of health emergencies can occur.

By 9AM use this link but before then, a THREAD

Food poisoning is quite common in our home mostly due to poor food storage conditions (no light), bad food handling, and then people consume food just so it doesn't waste. Many people dey this table.

Symptoms include abdominal pains, cramps about 4hrs after food consumption...
... stooling, sometimes vomiting might occur.

To remedy this, it's important to some help meds like Imodium, ORS & Zinc, however should symptoms persist, call for Urgent Medical Care.

PS: Don't use Tetracycline, especially in children.

More on this later.

I apologise I couldn't post as I promised but it's rather late than never right? So here we go.

I remember @aproko_doctor ran a poll few weeks ago and I realized that a lot of folks here (about 80%) either have never had health insurance or is thinking of getting one. Shocking!
It's not that surprising though as a similar percentage of people in Nigeria pay out of pocket for healthcare.

But we have health insurance plans in Nigeria.

However picking an Health Insurer can be tricky in Nigeria. Some can be trusted, while some can not for several reasons
My last thread on HMOs I received an enormous amount of requests to recommend high performing HMOs in Nigeria, which is what I'll be doing today as a Health Provider (a medium between HMOs and Enrollee) and this will be reviewed on a monthly basis.

My Hospital has gone through financially troubled times lately. And 90% of the problem is as a fact that HMOs have decided not to pay after we have rendered service.

I am in no mood to drag anyone, but HMOs should stop delaying Healthcare providers after we render a service.
Some will owe you three months, six months, some one year, some TWO years. And they expect you to keep seeing their patients, the same patients who by the way are made to think they have paid us for the work and feel entitled. It's not their fault because the HMOs have the money.
Most HMOs aren't really helping the healthcare space rather they're playing a big Ponzi Scheme on Healthcare Providers (HPs). They take from Corporate Organizations, refuse to pay HPs (or pay peanuts) and let the patient think the HPs have been paid. NHIS should look into this.

The rise of social media related suicides is a wake up call to seriously consider questioning relationships in this time and age...

3 weeks ago I just rescued a 21 year old girl who drank sniper 30 minutes prior her being rushed to my Hospital...

Thread @DrJoeAbah @segalink
*prior to her*

Now what happened. From all information I gathered, the girl was learning fashion design from a mentor (woman), and apparently the girl didn't like the way the mentor took advantage of her. The girl had learned enough from the mentor to enable her start on her own
that is, start he own business, but this woman won't let her leave, rather she will use her and not pay her, while not letting her graduate. When the girl returned for the Christmas holidays she pleaded with her Mum not to go back but the mother refused to understand...
