Georgia! Despite the GOP screaming that the general election was rigged against them, it was the GOP that did much better than GA exit polls predicted. With so much at stake, pls help provide oversight. Pls sign up w/ @ProtectVotes
to photograph precinct results in the runoff 1/
Precinct results are posted outside polling places after polls close. Our volunteers photograph them & @ProtectVotes then compares them to reported totals for those precincts. They shld match. If they don’t, that’s a problem we will report. Our project is called #PhotoFinish 2/
We ran this project in the general & found no discrepancies in Georgia. Given the deviance between exit polls & official results, however, I wish we had been able to cover more territory. We had about 30 photographer volunteers in Georgia. Ideally, we would have closer to 1K. 4/
PS. Note that this project can typically only detect problems that occur after results leave the precincts, ie, at the county central tabulators. It cannot typically detect if the precinct results themselves are incorrect. 6/

This @GrassrootsSpeak thread about KY went viral. I didn’t realize until @JonathanSimon14 questioned it today that the 18% approval # was from a few years ago. In reality, McConnell’s KY approval was much higher closer to the 2020 election (& much higher than McGrath’s). 1/
2/ “Likely voters have a mixed opinion of Senator McConnell, with 44 % saying they have a favorable opinion of him, while 46 % say they have an unfavorable opinion of him. Amy McGrath receives a negative 34 - 47 percent favorability rating. “ - Oct. 2020 poll.qu.edu/kentucky/relea…
3/ McConnell was expected to win. That said, he won by a lot more than the exit polls predicted. tdmsresearch.com/2020/12/14/202…
Johnson is right about internet connectivity & the lack of meaningful manual audits. IOW, @C_C_Krebs overstated the security of this election & underplayed internet connectivity. He mentioned only WI in response to Johnson’s fact check. He knows it was WI, MI, FL, & beyond. 1/
3/ The fact is that this was known by both Democrats AND REPUBLICANS before the election, but the GOP blocked election security legislation that would have banned the modems & internet connectivity & required robust manual audits. axios.com/gop-senator-el…
Krebs & Ds shld not have overstated the security of the election. Once under oath, if the questioner is prepared, the truth will come out re: internet connectivity & the lack of manual audits & their credibility will be ruined. Meanwhile, no one knows Rs blocked the #SAFEAct! 1/
The GOP blocked the #SAFEAct, which wld have banned internet connectivity & required robust manual audits. This should have been the Democrats’ talking point, not false assurances about how secure the election was despite internet connectivity & the absence of manual audits. 2/
“Maine – The most noteworthy aspect in the Senate race between Sara Gideon (Dem) and longtime incumbent Susan Collins (Rep) occurred with the pre-election polls. Not a single poll, of the 14 polls listed by RealClearPolitics since February 2020, gave Collins a lead.” 1/
“Not a single poll of the 22 polls compiled by FiveThirtyEight since July 6, 2020 gave Collins a lead. Gideon led in every poll—RealClearPolitics’ polls since the beginning of October averaged a lead of 5.7%, 538’s averaged a lead of 4.7% (listed in tables below).” 2/
“The 12.6% discrepancy between 538’s compiled polls and the computer vote count was the highest of all the US Senate races listed in the tables below.” 3/
Paul Manafort, a convicted felon, was allowed to go home with a GPS. But the Trump administration forces asylum seekers from Cameroon—who are not criminals—to remain in detention in harsh conditions for years on end, only to deport many of them anyway. 1/
On the return flight, these asylum seekers are treated like violent criminals, with their hands shackled to their legs. What kind of a country does this to people fleeing violent conditions? We don't treat animals with such cruelty. 2/
The Trump administration has tortured these asylym seekers. It is despicable. When I said they kept them detained 4 years, I meant years. Imagine having to live in a detention center year after year only to be deported in shackles to the dangerous situation from which u fled. 3/
More human rights abuses. The Trump administration has rejected most asylum applications from Cameroonians, despite keeping the asylum seekers in detention centers for years, economically benefiting detention-center owners. - Jacqueline NDIToko, Cameroonian American Counsel 1/
I discussed this humane treatment today with Jacqueline and with Selena Keesecker of the Guadalupe Presbyterian Church. Selena told me that some of these asylum seekers are kept in detention centers for three years or more. 2/
3/ Asylum seekers are returned to Cameroon on lengthy fights with their hands shackled to their legs. Asylum seekers aren't criminals, but the Trump administration has treated them as if they are.
