- Rasam using fruits (mostly citrus variety, pineapple and apple)

My grandmother use to make rasam with citron fruit and it's leaves for garnishing
- Herbal rasam ( Pipalli/Thipilli /Piper longum)

- Rasam using greens ( Brahmi / Methi)

- Spice only Rasam (Garlic /DryGinger)
-"Rasa" is a Sanskrit word which translates to,' Taste'

- Sense of Taste is a key diagnostic parameters for doctors

- Age old doctors will first examine the patient tongue colour and enquirie for his tasting ability
-Ayurvedic science of medicine in its all aspects, uses rasa (taste) of the substance as the primary diagnostic tool
- So in many ways rasam was sickness predictor

-It is used to assess the healthy state of family members

-The person who consumes little rasam or find rasam tasteless for particular day

It's a indicator to grandmas that he is going to fall sick soon ☺️
Position of rasam in our cuisine too is beneficial greatly and has profound health benefits

Ancient food has below sequence
A sweet food(payasam)-sour and salt (sambar-rasam-curry)-Pungent,Bitter and Astringent(buttermilk-pickle)-followed by Betel leaves and Nut(astringent)
- Rasam is a balanced food suitable to person with any disease history. Sick to a year old baby

- Rationale even new born is fed with rasam rice with turn dal mix

The new babe which has been managing with liquid food has very little digestive ability to digest solid food
Rasam tunes it's digestive fire and aids the growing babe for solid food digestion

Rasam basically is spice and mineral house, so called "super food " of the West
Rasam not just helps your physical body it's helps even your mental soul

Tomatoes undergo a biological process while rasam is cooked so that the

Lycopene and carotenoid gets formed to medicinal mixture
The spices in our rasam ensure your mental reasoning capacity is nourished and enables positive thinking attitude

Lycopene and carotenoid mixture is key antioxidant primary pharmaceutical ingredient of widely available antidepressants
Rasam does surely intervene with your cognitive ability and stress reduction

We suggest you to consume hot rasam when ever you are deeply depressed and see your mental state after fifteen minutes of consuming rasam
West promotes the same rasam concept in a different theory..

" Tomato a day keeps your depression away ""

Our ancestors were wise enough to go beyond tomatoes and make it medicinal with their culinary skills
This easy to make spicy juice should be consumed daily at every one house

Especially to older people and growing up kids at home

This does wonders your digestive systems and central nervous system
End of thread

On a lighter note. There is also philosophical explanation of rasam sequence too

Sambar is young guy who is ambitious

Rasam is a midlife guy who has knowledge of everything in essence (Rasa 🙂)
Buttermilk is a old aged guy who finds elixir even on a discarded water

Rasam is for all the people who are managing the midlife crisis
