(3) My views on the alphabet soup of LGBTQIA are no doubt controversial for some. Good! Open debate is what a free society is meant to support. Try it sometime.
(1) Most of those tweeting #WeAreLGBTQIA mean well, at heart. Some of the neverending alphabet soup of this terminology is unhelpful to the "cause," whatever that is on the day.
Here's my two cents worth:
(2) L and G are understandable and were the originals. L was put in front of G because early on, gay men were getting more airtime than lesbian women were. B was then added, but there are very few times in life when one's status as a B requires laws to be changed. Unlike L & G.
(3) Most LGB were not happy about T being added. LGB is about sexual orientation. T is about which gender you identify with. Ts as a group are tiny compared to LGB, and there's a case for not upending ALL laws & policies for such a tiny group.
I see no conflict btwn Pompeo's & Trump's comments about the foreign hacking. We won't know details until whatever actions the US is taking are completed. Logically, it could be all 3 of China, Russia, & Iran behind it. China planted >500,000 spies in the US. That's even worse.
Read the transcript of the Pompeo interview here. It's been available online for 17 hours, but media focused on one sentence of it, taken out of context (of course.)
The Pompeo interview includes damning commentary of the US media, Democrats, their allies the Chinese Communist Party, and their appeasement (he uses that term) of Iran and other malign actors.
He even refers to CCP spies on American college campuses.
>Yeah OK we're not supposed to praise him for it bc he's a Scientologist and they use our praise to get and keep innocents inside their death cult. Check.
>I wasn't gonna praise him for it, but I have some observations to make...
(2) BTW I've been calling out Scientology for as long as I've been an adult, which is nearly 30yrs. LOL. And I predicted before they married that Katie Holmes would eventually leave Tom Cruise.
His covid rant sounds exactly like it would if it was part of a movie script of his.
(3) So, I'm not totally convinced it was unscripted and impromptu. Especially since he just says "you, and you" etc. That's like he didn't want their names getting out.
His anger is misplaced, of course. And if he had real power, he wouldn't have needed to yell.
(2) I'm glad they arrested 89 year old Peter Nygard on these sex trafficking charges because when they are finally exposed after they've died, it's harder to work toward justice for the survivors and their loved ones. Jimmy Savile (UK) is an example.
(3) Almost 2 years ago I first heard about the appalling #NXIVM case and wrote about it here. The thread has practical suggestions on what we as bystanders can do to try to help the survivors and everyone else impacted by such heinous crimes:
Are you old enough to remember the year 1984? I am.
This is the China I knew of at that time. The one that British pop due Wham! visited to film the Freedom music video. Ironic on multiple levels.
Gonna be an amazing 5 weeks for us all. Buckle up.
"On the edge of oblivion
All the word is Babylon
And all the love and everyone
A ship of fools sailing on"
Everybody Have Fun Tonight by Wang Chung, 1986
It's an earworm, I'm sorry.😛
China makes me think of a bunch of 80s songs.
Philip Bailey - Walking On The Chinese Wall (1984)
Great music video, that I took for granted at the time. Makes me think about how good it's going to be for the Chinese people and everyone else in the world when the regime crumbles. Freedom.🙏
(1) Thread: A place to store links to confirmed info about what is currently called the Texas lawsuit, and/or any related direct-to-SCOTUS cases we need to know about.
It's a waste of time telling me about a court decision or a case filed or talked abt, w/out a proper source.
(2) There's too much unconfirmed info floating about (whether deliberate or accidental) and I think we're all sick and tired of that.
So, as a side effect of trying to meet my own info needs, I'm sharing the info I find, for you.
(3) Please don't assume your readers understand jargon terms and concepts about the finer details of court procedures. Instead of "it's on the docket" tell me what body decided this, when (incl time of day if necessary) & tell me where I can confirm it (ie read a document.)
