✋🏾New Year Resolutions Don’t Last

👉🏾 Build Systems Instead

👇🏾 Here’s how (1/10)
Setting new year resolutions is a creative form of procrastination.

If you are really serious about changing your life, you won’t wait one extra day.
> For direction, set goals

> For progress, fix habits

> For long-term success, build systems.

A system is a string of processes that makes you effortlessly productive.

It will help you sustain momentum and conserve willpower.
How To Build An Effective System:

1) Clearly establish your goal in mind and on paper.

Be specific, be realistic and back it up with a strong incentive.
2) Find your keystone habit

It is the habit that gives you the confidence to fulfill other tasks.

Ask yourself:

“What’s the ONE thing I can do that will make everything else easier or unnecessary?”

It must naturally excite you and should be easy to execute.
Your keystone habit could be;

• Jogging
• 20 push-ups
• Reading a page
• Replying emails
• Making your bed
• 5-minute meditation
• Journaling and day-planning

Do it first thing in the morning and build on that momentum -

stack up small wins all day loooong.
3. Set up a trigger

This is something that will compel you to take action.

Sight trigger: When I see X, I’ll do Y

Location trigger: Whenever I’m at X, I’ll do Y

Time trigger: At X o’clock, I’ll do Y
4) Tweak your environment to work for you;

• Get out of your room as soon as you wake up

• Set up a personal workspace - declutter and remove distractions

• Print a picture of your goal and paste it on your wall.
5) Schedule Your Day

I prefer to organize my tasks in time windows (between the hours of X and X, I’ll do Y).

This keeps me flexible and less prone to procrastinating.

Keep experimenting and tweaking your schedule till you find your optimal work plan.
6) Identify potential obstacles

> Get enough sleep

> Avoid energy vampires

> Know your weakness & optimal work hours

> Ask a friend to keep you accountable

> Have a plan to deal with low motivation days

> Never forget your WHY, focus on your mission 24/7

Now Go Win 2021 👊🏾

“How do I discover my passion”

One of the most popular questions I get in the DM

👇🏾Let’s get into it
Understand

1. Your passion won’t appear to you in an epiphany // a ceremonious display.

2. It isn’t ready made, you develop it overtime.

3. You don’t need passion to have direction in life, you need specific knowledge + specific action.
4. You won’t get paid for your passion, you’ll get paid for your skills, judgement, and capabilities.

5. Passion is not the foundation of your career, it is the outcome of years of devotion + hours of practice

( A mini thread 🧵)

Journaling is truly one of the best self-improvement tools there is.

Are you looking to form a journaling habit

but don’t know what to write ❔

Here are some ideas

⬇️
1. Journal about your activities

Write down;

* Everything you’ve been doing all day.

* The things you procrastinated.

* The unexpected events that happened.

* Your general mood for the day.

* What you ate.

Doing this daily will help you become more self aware.
2. Journal about your anxieties

If you worry about something, it would be vastly exaggerated in your head.

When you start writing down what you’re stressed about 🔰

10 Stoic Principles For Unshakable Discipline

(A thread 🧵)

If you are unable to maintain your discipline for more than 3 days,
live by these wise words.

1/11 ⬇️
1. Start with finding your purpose:

Your biggest source of inspiration is the incentive for your drive.

Know thy “why”.

Once you find compelling reasons to take actions, commit yourself to see that activity through to the very end.
2. Count on yourself:

You won’t achieve anything without conviction that you CAN.

Have a practical plan.

Then be committed to performing the small actions that will help you achieve your goals.
