Leicester City 2 vs 2 Man Utd — Tactics #MUFC
LEI buildup in 2422. United pressed - High block - them in 4321 with Martial pressing the CBs while Bruno press the CM ball nearside. The wingers pressed the fullback(s) ball nearside. Fred would move out to press the other CM if needed or to cover for a winger. #MUFC
In mid block, United went into their 442 defensive shape. They still pressed the CBs in 4411, where Fernandes pressed the RCB on ball and Martial covered the LCM as One W pressed the FB and the other covers the RCM.
As #LEI lost possession a lot due to United's press, they started going long through the GK. Schmeichel went long 20x with only 6 successful. #MUFC won a lot of the aerial duels but not the second ball.
#LEI also pressed in a 4231. Vardy pressed the ball carrying CB and LW Barnes pressed the FB. The CAM and RW pressed the double pivot as opposed to moving a CM forward to pressed to cover one of the pivots like #MUFC
#LEI OOP in 442 while #MUFC in possession 334.

United transition shape 433. #MUFC left 3 played high for counters and to pin the CBs and the FBs back as much as possible.
Another brilliant throw-in setup from #MUFC for Rashford goal vs #LEI:
- switch in movement to disrupt def. line & cause issue by dragging CBs away from box.
- create space for throw-in taker & move betw. lines
- opposite movement to receive & turn inside by James into space
Lindelöf, as RB, had a good game defens. & made a couple of runs forward but ball never got to him. DJ & Scott covered him well. Limited Barnes & Castagne to 2/5 crosses. Barnes moved centrally [away] as Vardy shifted left. Lindelöf also marshaled the right side w/ instructions.
1st goal:

- Maguire cleared the ball to #mufc player.
- BR should release the ball in empty space for MR10 to run to.
- Gets dispossessed and ball falls to Barnes.
- Scott has enough time to engage & block.
- Bailly see that as well.
- No one closes Barnes. Free shot.
What's Bailly do there? lol

I am surprised he has not cost #MUFC a penalty yet. He always put his arms up like that. I thought this was funny though. #MUFC
The benefit of having PP6 is defenses automicatally sit deeper when he comes on.+ He gets doubled up on - notice in the pic. This frees up other players & if the right pass is played opposition is automatically at a disadvantage. BF18 was marked & pressured on ball pre-PP6 intro.
Ndidi and Tielemans broke up the play really well and intercepted a lot of United's break outs by focusing on Fernandes and Martial. Credit to Leicester. #MUFC did the same on Maddison and Vardy.

They have a midfield that can compete with the best.
Decision-making:

So many of United's attacks died because the played either wrong pass or played the pass a fraction second late. In a game that is cagey, Decision-making, in the crucial moments, makes the difference. #MUFC
Maguire might not have a high acceleration but once he gets going he can be fast. When coming up against fast attackers (i.e. Vardy, Mbappe), he gives himself a bit of space and anticipates the run before the attacker to gain ground. He did that very well vs Vardy. #MUFC
#MUFC 2nd goal:
- MR10 stretching the def. line to make a gap went unnoticed.
- Shaw & PP6 positions stretch other FB.
- Bailly took advan. of #LEI's 1st line cent. position to run into space.
- EC7 drops into space between lines.
- Bruno makes run into space created by MR10.
#LEI 2nd goal:

- Shaw intercepts ball - falls to Justin.
- Fred goes to mark Justin. Shaw goes to double up??
- Pogba sees Shaw doing that & point to Perez. Why not go?
- Shaw notices Perez & at that point Pogba decides to go himself. 1 sec late.
- Perez makes low cross.
Vardy anticipated the cross better than #MUFC defenders. The small shift he made gave him a fraction of sec on both Baily and Tuanzebe to react. Elite CF movement - Hard to defend against.. The mistake was leaving Perez.

What should be happening. 👇
I tried to keep this thread as simple as possible with little technical terms as some people said some of posts are confusing. Enjoy!🙃

End. #MUFC

Man Utd 6 - 2 Leeds Utd — Tactics. #MUFC #MUNLEE
#MUFC buildup from the back only when possible in 2422 while #LUFC tried to press 4141. #MUFC anticipated high-intensity press, so at GKs #mufc setup positions as to play short but DDG instead went long, forcing #LUFC to apply their press over a significantly increased area...
, and ensuring that the 1st & 2nd contacts came near the halfway line. The larger spaces that existed, the bigger the space that is freed up for AM9, MR10 and DJ21 to attack their opponents 1v1. #MUFC

West Ham United 1 vs 3 Manchester United. A tale of two halves. #MUFC
United buildup with double pivot staying central and the 2 FBs pushup to form a 2422/2431. Martial and VdB would drop and try to be available to receive the ball if United can't progress centrally. #MUFC
WHU buildup in 343 shape from the 451 or 3421 (depends on how you see it). Fornals and Bowen positioned in the half spaces looked to make runs into the spaces left by United FBs - especially Telles. #MUFC

Southampton vs. Man Utd. Tactics. #SOU #MUFC
#SOU:
- In possession: 3422. McCarthy as the 3rd man in buildup.
- 442 Out of possession. (defensive play)
- In #mufc's 1/2: 334.
One of #SOU tactics was to overload the ballnear side flank with Walcott and Armstrong tucking in while Walker-Peters run into the space vacated as VdB and Telles push narrow to compensate. Vice-versa with Djenepo on the left of #SOU. #MUFC

Tactics + Attacking Structure of Man Utd vs. West Brom & Man Utd vs. IBFK. #MUFC
Man Utd buildup patterns for near box and middle third are 343 and 3232. When Matic drops between the CBs, Bruno drops to form a pivot with Fred and help the buildup. If AWB drops in the back 3, Mata drops to help. #MUFC
Man Utd pushed WBA push back into their deep block and as such Fred pushed even further. The formation looked like 316 at times. This to pressure the WBA back line. However, #MUFC become even more susceptible to counters.

Amad Diallo Traore. Profile Analysis Report. #MUFC
Manchester United agree a fee 20m + add ons for Amad Diallo, the younger winger from Atalanta U19. Diallo is far from the finished article. He is in a very raw state and will need integration and further development. #MUFC
#MUFC fans will need to give him the time & patience. Knowing them; If he has 2 excellent games, they'll call him the 2nd coming of Messi or the opposite just another Dan James. Anyway, this thread will cover:

•Style of play.
•Strengths & Weaknesses.
•Integration at United.

Man Utd 5 - 0 RB Leipzig. Tactics. #MUFC #RBL #MUNRBL
#MUFC used a narrow 433 out-of-possession. In possession, #MUFC used 334 shape in final 1/3. Deny verticality through the center but leaving flanks exposed. Kampl man-marked.
#MUFC buildup from back in 2422 that shifts into 2242 in middle 1/3. 242 in buildup created triangles & diamonds. 3+ passing lanes - bypass press.
