Our Casimir Pulaski Day celebrations are one of my favorite childhood memories of growing up in a Chicago steel mill neighborhood. The whole Harris-Gopalan family would gather around across multiple generations after our shifts and we’d eat whatever it is us Polish people eat.
Oh look, while Googling "What do Poles eat?" I found out Casimir Pulaski was a transwoman (transman? I can never remember). I'll have to tell Joe. He's really into weird historical stuff he can use in speeches, like how a black man invented the light bulb.

Here's the brand new FDA analysis of Moderna's vaccine prepared for Thursday's meeting:

Moderna doesn't report quite so high Vaccine Efficacy for over 65s: 86.4%.

"The VE in this analysis when stratified by age
group was 95.6% (95% CI: 90.6%, 97.9%) for participants 18 to <65 years of age and 86.4%
(95% CI: 61.4%, 95.5%) for participants ≥65 years of age."
"Throughout the safety follow-up period to date, there
were three reports of facial paralysis (Bell’s palsy) in the vaccine group and one in the placebo
group"

I think Pfizer had 4 Bell's Palsy in vaccine and 0 in placebo, so that's 7 cases for 35k inoculated with either.

In solid blue California, 2 men indicted on 41 counts of submitting 8,000 fraudulent voter registrations this year in plot to be elected mayor of ho-hum Hawthorne, CA.

This guy running for mayor of Hawthorne, CA submitted 8,000 fraudulent voter registrations over the summer in a city where no more than 30,000 votes were cast in the mayor's race on 11/3/2020.

In "Borat," "Kazakhs" stand in, in Sacha Baron Cohen's mind, for his ancestral enemies, the Cossacks (the Christian Slavic cavalrymen whose pogrom ruins the wedding of the daughter of Tevye, whom SBC played in a Cambridge production of "Fiddler on the Roof").
If you're wondering, Cossacks were Christian Russian serfs who ran away to the Russian-Islam steppe frontier, where they adopted the horseback-lifestyle of their Muslim Kazakh enemies. Later, they became the Czar's light cavalry, and were notorious during anti-Semitic pogroms.
It's funny that, despite the immense amount of cultural commentary generated by critics trying to explain Sacha Baron Cohen's "Borat" movies, virtually no critics noticed that SBC makes fun of "Kazakhs" as vengeance on Cossacks.
