Essentially the only strategy Trump has had to defeat COVID was to hope vaccines would come quickly. They have - but of course this godawful corrupt Administration had no plan for how people would actually get the vaccine.

An infuriating thread.
The Administration never established a federal response to COVID, despite all the federal tools they had been given - CDC, FEMA, HHS, DOD - to manage a crisis like this. There is no federal infrastructure, no command and control, no plan - just hope, pray states can manage.
The failure to establish a national and testing regime, with the feds working alongside the states in a single command and control structure, is haunting the vaccine rollout now. There simply is no federal system to oversee the vaccine rollout - it has never been established.
So if my college age son is away at college this spring who ensures he gets the vaccine? Does he have to come home to DC to get it, or can he get in MA? If his first dose is in May does he have to stay in MA after school ends to get the second dose? Who keeps track of all this?
Lack of certainty here could lock people into not traveling, not going to school etc this spring/summer. If my window to get a vaccine is April to June, does that mean I have to stay in DC to wait my turn, and if I'm not here, I miss my turn? Uncertainty here is staggering.
Here's more on how far behind the vaccine roll out is right now - we need to be at 3.5m shots a day and are currently at 1m a week.

Let's cut the data a little differently - we need to average 3.5m vaccinations a day to hit herd immunity by June. Right now we are around 140k/day. That's less than a tenth of where we need to be RIGHT NOW to have something like a regular summer.

They had a year to get ready.
Jared Kushner predicted we would be back to normal by June/July of 2020, and right now we are not on track to get there even by June/July of 2021. The scale of the operational failure here is hard to put into words.

Jared = incompetent dilettante.

Trump's corruption of his pardon power taints McConnnell's judicial project for all time. A "Trump Judge" will connote corruption, a denigration of the rule of law, not its power. His 3 SCOTUS picks are stained - by him, and corrupt process all 3 used to ascend to the Court.
While exonerating criminals, murderers, traitors, Trump has rushed to put people to death at a rate not seen in generations. Why? Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, Coney Barrett - you want to be associated with this, for all time? A frenetic rush to kill people?
No one associated with Trump should be able to call themselves a "Justice." There is no justice here. Entire right wing legal movement exposed now as full of frauds, hucksters, cowards. It's all bullshit.

Don't think there has been enough attention given to how important the blueing of the heavily Mexican-American parts of the US - AZ, CA, CO, NM, NV, TX - have been to the Democrats in recent years.

Yes, a thread.
The victories of Mark Kelly in AZ and John Hickenlooper in CO means that all 8 Senate seats in AZ, CO, NM, NV are now held by Democrats. In 2004 Dems held 2 of these 8 seats.

In 2004 when George W. Bush won re-election he won AZ, CO, NM, NV. This year Dems won all 4 states and their 31 electoral college votes. That's a consequential swing. cnn.com/2020/11/30/pol…

Gen Z/Millennials getting it done.

Young people are not just voting in very large numbers, but they are voting much more Dem.

Clinton 2016 was +19 with 18-29 year olds. Been +33-38 Biden in most natl youth polls. This is a big shift.

2020 #Youthvote = higher turnout, much more D.

Battleground states with highest Gen Z/Millennial vote share increase, 2020 vs 2016 (where have data):

MN 43%
AZ 19%
OH 18%
TX 18%
GA 9%
IA 9%
NC 3%

Want to emphasize - that this vote is up AT ALL, given huge early vote, remains remarkable.

Moving our little youth data spreadsheet to the @CleanProsperous website (below). They are building it out a bit, adding raw vote totals, making it easier to use.

Thanks again to @tbonier @TargetSmart for providing all this great data.
