Thread: The Holy Monastery of Great Meteoron - Endowment of St. Athanasius the Meteorite and St. Joasaph of Meteora who was descended from the Serbian royal house of Nemanjić, the son of the pious ruler of Epirus and Thessaly despot Symeon (Siniša). ⬇️

The Holy Monastery of Great Meteoron is the biggest and oldest one of all. It is located on top of one of the amazing rocks Meteora (Thessaly, Greece).

The monastery church, built in 1388 on the foundations of the old one, is dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Lord. ⬇️
St. Joasaph made such progress in the spiritual life that when St Athanasius died (1382), he made Joasaph his successor and Abbot in his place.

During his term of office, the monasteries of Meteora were at the highest point in their history, since he continued and completed ⬇️

3/ #Otpor in Serbian language means "Resistence".

Movement was financed by George Soros to take down president Milošević back in 2000.
