2021 NEW YEAR MESSAGE
Happy New Year Dear Compatriots and friends across the world.
This is the beginning of a new journey, a new chapter, a fresh opportunity to start and recover from the losses of 2020.
Last year was a challenging year, characterized by tales of misfortunes, deaths and illnesses. It was a tough moment for many homes and families owing to the unfortunate #COVID19 .
The pandemic plagued our world with many consequences, causing hardship and other forms of insecurity.
2020 was a year of many challenges and struggles both as individuals and as a nation. From #COVID19 to #EndSarsProtests, we witnessed disruptions in our cultures, economy, livelihoods and life itself.
These unfortunate events should propel us to re-examine ourselves, re-evaluate our priorities and commit ourselves to new norms, new cultures and new traditions.
The recent happenings in our world, specifically in our country Nigeria, should teach us new lessons. Lessons on faith, solidarity, justice, hope and peace.
We must aggregate these lessons, challenges, gains as well as losses of this period and harness them towards national rebirth and reconciliation.
As a nation, we cannot afford to fail this New Year; ignoring the existing gaps and contradictions that have continued to threaten our peace, unity and progress.
Going forward, we should retool our disposition to imbibe new ways and embrace new traditions.
Cultures that would correct the faultiness in our nation and promote peace, guarantee security and hope to all our people. We must prioritise such habits that entrench accountability, justice, and peace in our systems.
I commend all Nigerians for their patriotism and courage amidst daunting challenges. I salute the sacrifices of all those in the frontline working tirelessly to ensure our safety and those who have remained committed to protecting our lives and defending our unity.
I commiserate with families who lost loved ones to COVID- 19 and other illnesses and circumstances in the year 2020.
No matter our present realities today - whether good, bad or ugly, sweet, sour or bitter, we must continue to hope and strive for greater honour and glory for ourselves and our nation in this new year and beyond. I wish you all a Happy New Year as we journey into 2021.

Christmas is the day, in the calendar of Christendom, that marks the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
It is a commemoration that connects the world to love, selflessness, sacrifice and solidarity; which are the virtues that Christ unambiguously propagated.
Jesus' message of salvation speaks to the essence of both spiritual deliverance and earthly redemption. It is a constant reminder that humanity will have a more peaceful existence if people of the world rededicate themselves to friendship, kindness and compassion.
GOODWILL MESSAGE TO UNITED STATES PRESIDENT-ELECT JOE BIDEN AND VICE-PRESIDENT ELECT KAMALA HARRIS
I congratulate President-elect, Joe Biden, and Vice President-elect, Kamala Harris, on their victory at the November 3, 2020 US Presidential election.
Their election is not just historic, it is also futuristic in the sense that it gives us a glimpse of what the future will be-a world where race, gender and religion do not matter as much as competence and capacity.
The best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour, and based on his tenure as Vice President of the United States of America, between 2008 and 2016, I am fully persuaded that as President, Mr Biden will provide national and global leadership that will set the post...
NIGERIA AT 60: WE SHOULD NOT DESPAIR
I congratulate all Nigerians as we celebrate our 60th Independence Anniversary. Today is another unique day in our nation's history. It marks six decades of the anniversary of our self-rule.
It is an occasion that commemorates our political freedom.
Sixty years ago, we made a procession of victory, as we bade farewell to colonialism and emancipated our lands from the clutches of servitude.
It was a day of hope, promises and great expectations amplified by the reality of freedom and the vista of vast opportunities. We may not have met all the expectations and fulfilled all the promises that came with our independence.
My heart goes out to the family and colleagues of late flying officer, Tolulope Arotile.
She was a brave patriot who pushed her self beyond limits to demonstrate her uncommon love for our dear nation.
In the process, she made us all proud. In 2011 when my administration introduced females into the Nigeria Defence Academy to train as combatants, for the first time, it was to give equal opportunities to all men and women of the armed forces and encourage highly driven female...
...officers like Tolulope to excel in her chosen career, irrespective of their gender. I feel sad that such a young gallant officer would die at the prime of her life.
It has been a decade since His Excellency President Umar Musa Yar'Adua was snatched by the cold hands of death. On this day, every year, his image fills our consciousness as a mark of his selflessness, typical modesty and exceptional flair.
He was a President like no other who lived and died for the sake of his country. He stood on the side of the people, toiling day and night to make their lives better.
President Yar'Adua built strong bridges of hope, love and understanding for which he became a force for national unity and positive change across our blessed land.
I extend my best wishes to all Christian faithful in Nigeria and around the world as we celebrate this year's Easter. It is a moment of thanksgiving as well as an opportunity to reflect on the benefits of the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
From Holy Scriptures, we understand that the purpose of Christ's death on the cross was to redeem humanity from the bondage of sin, establish His love on us and grant us access to eternal life.
At Easter, our common testimonies are tales of the triumph of life over death, songs of victory over the devil and celebrations of love, mercy and grace.
