New thread on #AllisonPearson! Continuing from the old thread linked below
2/n Just an idle note on the irony: now that Brexit has happened, UK citizens may not be able to charge the NHS for costs of a knee-operation in Poland. Them's the breaks.

3/ This December tweet from @allisonpearson seems like a direct lie. Judge for yourself, compare with reports from *real* journalists:
independent.co.uk/news/health/ke…
and edition.cnn.com/2021/01/02/uk/…
and theguardian.com/world/2020/dec…
__
4/n Direct lie, or just plain total uninformed imecility from @allisonpearson? You be the judge. Remember, as shown in the first thread, she expressly claimed not to post against lockdowns.
5/n Let's look at *facts* that @allisonpearson can't be bothered with when she makes her claims. Facts gathered by *genuine* journalists. Reminder: more people now in UK hospitals with #COVID19 than there were in the April peak. Deaths lag, but ascending

theguardian.com/world/2021/jan…
6/n In this thread, and the replies to it, a claim of @allisonpearson's was examined, and found to be (surprise!) wholly untrue. It's so far from the truth right now, it's attaining light-speed.
7/ A reminder: @allisonpearson of the @Telegraph expressly, directly claimed not to post against lockdowns. I'm saying that is a lie.
8/ Reminder: @allisonpearson directly claimed she didn't post against lockdowns. You may think my saying that's a lie is strong words. See below.
As for her claim lockdowns only postpone deaths, that's either a lie, or merely fatuous drivel from a halfwit.
9/n A side-thread, separate, on ethical issues.

10/ For a change, here is a Tory MP, the Member of Parliament for Harborough, telling the absolute, unvarnished truth about @toadmeister's Lockdown-Sceptics crap (remember the #fakenews photo and post that #AllisonPearson tweeted out?):

11/ Here's @allisonpearson, yet again declaiming on subjects she's all too plainly willfully ignorant of. Does it also constitute part of a hate-campaign against the NHS? You be the judge. But you can't deny she doesn't have a clue. >73,000 dead in the UK
12/ @allisonpearson threatens legal action against a man for his allegedly saying she's part of a hate-campaign against the #NHS. Except #AllisonPearson lied before (photo "100% faked", remember?) & from below, maybe she's lying about not hating on the NHS
telegraph.co.uk/women/life/fir…
13/ The below is a lie. I repeat, @allisonpearson is lying with this claim. #COVID19 *can and does* kill young people too, we still don't know the long-term effects in children, & the purpose of the vaccine is ALSO to stop transmission of the virus.
14/ Here, @AllisonPearson, who has lied about a photo of a sick boy on a floor in a hospital, who has lied about the effects of the #COVID19 second-wave, who has vindictively & viciously threatened a member of the public, gets terribly unconsciously ironic.
15/ Here, @allisonpearson is claiming to know better than an epidemiologist. Except, even only in London, hardest-hit of the UK, seroprevalence of +ve #COVID19 status is only around 17.5%. So far over 75,000 have died in the UK.

gov.uk/government/pub…

16/ In easy-to-understand words for @allisonpearson. If, in *the hardest-hit area*, <20% are #COVID19 seropositive, & already over 75,000 are dead, then safely assume the other 80% not yet exposed will have an even larger number of dead if exposed to it
17/ In the two threads I have now done:
a/ @allisonpearson's direct claim she does not post against "lockdowns, tracing and quarantine" has been demonstrated to be false.
b/ Her many posts of misinformation on #COVID19 have been amply demonstrated.
18/ Also demonstrated in these two threads:
a/ @allisonpearson's relationship with the truth is tenuous at the best of times, and downright nonexistent at times, as when she claimed a photo of a sick boy on a floor was "100% fake".
19/ Also demonstrated in these two threads of mine:

@allisonpearson is simply grossly uninformed, vocal but imbecilic, on #COVID19 in general, and many of her claims are directly dangerous.
20/ As to whether @allisonpearson is crassly hypocritical, and insufferably vindictive and malicious, you can be the judge of that from my two threads.
21/ Oh, and I left out @allisonpearson's implicit claim not to be part of any hate-campaign against the UK NHS. Judge from all this for yourself. I have many more statements of hers bookmarked.

22/ One addendum on @allisonpearson's self-own on some of her stupid remarks on #COVID19:
"I’ve asked so many people if they know anyone who has had Covid. Hardly anyone."
lol.
theneweuropean.co.uk/brexit-news/al…
23/ One more addendum: thread from @GregoryDavisHNH on @allisonpearson running a months-long hate campaign against public health officials and scientists.

1/ I'm going to tackle this one very directly & separately in public, because the target of @allisonpearson's hate campaign has expressed suicidal ideation. It has been suggested to me publicising his name is not in his interests.
2/ I *strongly* suggest that serving the victim's needs is best done by exposing @allisonpearson and her lackadaisical relationship with the truth, in the context of her spiteful attacks on the victim.
3/ If the only way to stop @allisonpearson's hate-campaign against him was by revealing his name (already published a whole lot of times by @allisonpearson, with 83.1K followers; I have 8.3K, a tenth), then I'll stick to what I've done. Let's NOT pretend my addition will hurt him

1/n @allisonpearson, columnist whips up a storm against a microbiologist, & threatens legal action, because his abject apologies, multiple, & deletion of tweets, weren't good enough for her.

So let's look at @allisonpearson's record on the truth.

2/n You might come away from these exchanges thinking that @allisonpearson is a vicious & vindictive person who can't handle disagreement. But that would be irrelevant to the question of how truthful she is. So let's look at that.
#AllisonPearson.

3/n @allisonpearson doesn't have a great record on truth regarding the lies thrown about autism being 'caused' by MMR vaccinations; she's listed by @spikedonline among "Gullible hacks: journalists duped by the anti-MMR campaign"

1/n and now for something completely different. You all know I got myself an auto camera to video the hedgehogs in my garden.
e.g. from September 02:
2/n You also all know I caught the smallest hedgehog twice, to weigh it. It was badly underweight, but I managed to get it up to above needed weight just before it disappeared into hibernation for the winter.

3/ The hoggles disappeared into their winter torpor sleep, and the only thing caught on the camera was a thieving cat, various shrews and wood-mice.

Reading through replies to this thread, I'm struck by how many:
— denigrate the specific vaccines, for murky purposes;
— simply have no & don't want understanding at all of vaccine safety & efficacy trials;
— are obsessed with "government", when in fact on this it did very well
also, not only an #ff for @clairlemon, but also an #ff for @ScepticalAussie, who is almost always right (except for the times she disagrees with me) & who knows how to find & present data well (& has much more patience than me).
For a while, I thought they might be doing it out of overpowering unconscious fear (surrender to the virus!). But now I think it's just a mixture of antivaxxers, and those who want to pretend the pandemic doesn't exist, because stupid politics.

Folks, now is NOT the time to relax. Get the vaccine as soon as you can, be very wary of the next 2 months anyway, they're going to be hell on the ICU's. Maintain all precautions until a fortnight after you & everyone around you got the vaccine (and better, the booster jab too).
Folks, pardon me harping on this, but every day seems to mark a new milestone in why you all should be taking the new #LondonVariant very seriously indeed, & why it needs tough suppression.

This may be a storm petrel, it may not be at all. The new #LondonVariant may be just making its presence more widely known among those under 65 by sheer force of more transmission, higher R0, or it may point to something else. Very indistinct as yet.
This is very true. Is it the new #LondonVariant? Is it just governmental mismanagement, including defunding the NHS for years, plus MSM press idiocy & misinformation from the likes of @IsabelOakeshott & @allisonpearson? Something else? Or a combination?
The warning that @zeynep writes here is very true. It may yet turn out to be a false alarm. But taking no new action would be completely disasterous if it turns out to be a real problem.
