Apropos of nothing, but there's 10% more #COVID19 cases per capita in the counties won by Trump in Georgia and 25% more COVID deaths per capita. #JustSaying

Specifically:
Trump Counties:
Pop: 5,587,291
Cases: 366,199 (65.5/1K)
Deaths: 6,074 (10.9/10K)

Biden Counties:
Pop: 4,861,835
Cases: 289,083 (59.5/1K)
Deaths: 4,229 (8.7/10K)

Swing Counties (won by less than 6%):
Pop: 168,297
Cases: 11,250 (66.9/1K)
Deaths: 314 (18.7/10K)

Here's the 20 Georgia counties with the highest #COVID19 mortality rate as of yesterday. Trump received 66% more votes than Biden collectively in these 20 counties (84,685 vs. 50,913).

Make of that what you will.

Keep in mind, of course, that even the reddest counties can still have plenty of blue areas.

Here's the 20 Georgia counties with the highest confirmed *infection* rate.

Nearly 2.5x as many voted for Trump vs. Biden in these counties (188,605 vs. 76,443).

NOTE: This doesn't include *today*, when another 10,091 cases and 101 more deaths were reported in Georgia...

Speaking of which another 200,000+ Americans tested positive today and another 3,000+ died...and Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Idaho, Oregon & 40% of California & 20% of Texas still haven't reported in.

Whoops! Mistake found! I had Decatur & DeKalb's pops & case/death totals switched!

The correction makes the contrast even starker:

Trump Counties:
Pop: 4.85M
Cases: 329K (67.7/1K)
Deaths: 5,591 (11.5/10K)

Biden Counties:
Pop: 5.60M
Cases: 326K (58.4/1K)
Deaths: 4,712 (8.4/1K)

For some reason, the Johns Hopkins county-level data set has DeKalb listed *before* Decatur by default (probably due to the capital K?); I forgot to sort alphabetically in Excel to be sure.

Anyway, that means cases are actually 16% higher per capita in the counties Trump solidly won in Georgia & deaths are 37% higher.
