11:37 AM - Panels’ here, I’m not even mad I just got here myself. Doing the Morning Show does this to me, we will be back to regular programming soon. Who’s ready to #EndSARS this Friday afternoon? ☺️
Here’s the list of petitions being heard today #ENDSARS
The First petition of the day, starts with its own challenges as despite summons being served to the Nigerian Army both them and their legal counsel are absent. #ENDSARS
Justice Okuwobi orders for fresh summons to be issued to interested parties and adjourns the case to Jan 23, 2021. #ENDSARS
The next case is that of Okpara Nkem Felicia, Nigerian Police legal counsel Cyril Ejiofor presents a CD containing video evidence and its submitted and entered as an exhibit #ENDSARS
As soon as that’s done, Ejiofor requests that the video be played.
**Cue in our court technician, he briskly makes his way to the witness stand to prepare the video for viewing #EndSARS
R: Can you identify the petitioner in the video we just watched
A: They are much
R: That’s not what I asked, can you see her?
A: No I can’t.
R: Do you know why she was arrested?
A: No
R: You’re on the witness stand and don’t know why you’re testifying?
A: No #EndSARS
R: Did you investigate this case
A: Yes now
R: How?
A: Well I went to look for the place she said she was from coming from and I didn’t find the street.
R: The petitioner testified that the Nigerian Police gave her N200,000 - why was that sum given to her
A: She said she was an orphan, unemployed and sick.
R: So are you saying the NPF is now an NGO?!
A: **crickets #ENDSARS
Ridwan calls for Felicias statement and has the witness read it out loud -
“The sum of N200,000 has been awarded to Felicia for payment of medical bills”
R: You said she was unemployed sir why doesn’t it say so the official statement?
A: I don’t know
Ridwan rests his case and the panels legal counsel Ogunsanya takes over..
O: You are the investigating officer?
A: Yes
O: In that video, she was clearly arrested by your colleagues, who are they?
A: I don’t know them
O: But you were there
A: I say I don’t know them #ENDSARS
O: So what was she charged with when arrested ?
A: Attack on police stations, police officers, murder and arson.
Cross examination comes to an end and Justice Okuwobi adjourns the case to Jan 13, 2021. #ENDSARS
The next case is that of Francis Eni Idum vs FSARS.
Ejiofor (Police counsel) call their witness forward. He is an ex cultist who is now an informant for the police so he wears a full face mask to hide his identity.. #ENDSARS
What baffles me is the fact that he went on to tell us his full name, house address and occupation.
So why cover your face when someone can just come to your house sir?
Witness states that he was picked up by the police because he is a known cultist, so they asked me to show them were the others were.. #EndSARS
On July 15, 2019 I took 3 policemen to the cultist hideout in Fadero but they ran away, so we went to Ajesegiri street but there was a large crowd so we went back to the station for reinforcements, he claims no policemen fired any shots before heading back #ENDSARS
Justice Okuwobi asks the respondents and petitioner to submit their addresses. Adoption of these addresses is adjourned to Feb 2, 2021. #ENDSARS
The next case is that of Lucky Philemon, a young man who was allegedly shot at the Lekki Toll Gate on the 20th of October. #ENDSARS
Unfortunately as was in the first case, The Nigerian Army is not in court and this case is again adjourned to Jan 30, 2020. #ENDSARS
The final case today is that of Ishola Adewusi & 19 others vs The Nigerian Police Force. Petitioners are absent so this case is adjourned to Jan 13, 2020. With that the panel rises and closes for the day
January 5, 2021. 11:30 AM - The Judicial panel of Inquiry resumes its sitting. Arrived a tad bit late due the timing of my segment on the morning show. Don’t think I’ve missed much, no petitioner has been called forward. #ENDSARS
Here are the petitioners set to testify today. By my count today makes for the 23rd sitting for the panel but who’s counting. #ENDSARS
The first witness in the case of Adebayo Abayomi is called forward, his name is Ibrahim Yusuf, he is the lead witness for Police legal counsel Cyril Ejiofor. Yusuf is sworn in and proceeds to give his testimony. #ENDSARS
12:22 pm, Time stamp reads 18:31:58 - we are getting closer. #EndSARS
We are starting to see some activity, in clear view, protestors can be seen, some running away and others trying to create a barrier between them an the military. The atmosphere in the court room just got intense @ARISEtv#EndSARS
12:40 pm - the protesters on the other side of the gate and the military continues to slowly close in on them. I feel a tight knot in my chest 🥺 #EndSARS
Time is 9:37, I’m on my way to the court of Arbitration when my cameraman calls to tell me our live TVU transmission is down, other channels have the same problem too. Could they be jamming the signal? Gone to retrieve another one, all green means we are good! #EndSARS
Why is there so much traffic this early in the morning? Will I make it in time? Will the court proceedings start without me? Why today ohhh Lord 🙆🏾♀️
Just kidding, got here 10 minutes ago, the panel is’not here yet. Military will be testifying again today, the atmosphere is calm as lawyers, press and the public make their way into the court room. Wondering what time we will start... @ARISEtv#EndSARS
