Even with how bad it's been Pelosi still manages to make me roll my eyes. Are military leaders even obligated to initiate a nuclear strike if the president just orders it out of nowhere?
I seriously can't believe this is a thing. Like there's no process by which there's even a reason given? Just blind obey? Yeah that's scary. Still, Trump won't do it.
That's sort of what I meant. But "unlawful" is a judgment call and I figure that if literally out of nowhere the president orders a strike, there would at least be *some* hesitation.
Again, it's not the Twitter ban. It's that 4-5 services can act in concert to instantly freeze someone out of the online sphere, including the serving president of the united states. Forget whether HE deserved it. The fact that this ability exists AT ALL is dangerous.
Yes the world is exactly the same now as it was in 2002 and the online sphere isn't a far more central place for information, business, and the general conduct of society and life. Good take.
The big Writers Guild strike in 07-08 was exactly over this - they were being denied royalties they deserved because they came in via digital platforms - something new enough to not be included in their previous CBA. New technology often needs new legal frameworks.
Watching one of the greatest sci fi flicks ever in 4k. Let's go.
There are so many creative choices in this movie that would never have been made today, which is one of the reasons I love it so much. It has true character.
It's The Fifth Element. I guess I should have mentioned that...
I'm not a JP translator but I have worked as a translator for years and also have a basic grasp of Japanese and I strongly disagree. Tolkein treated LOTR like a translated work and deliberately left words in "foreign" languages like Elvish. Translation isn't localization.
There is extreme value in preserving the cultural identity of the text you're translating. The more colloquialisms and idioms that you transpose, the further away you get from the true spirit of the text. Sometimes it's inevitable but the default should NEVER be 100% conversion.
You're not trying to make it an American product. You're trying to make it a Japanese product that Americans can understand, but maintaining its Japanese nature necessarily requires keeping some of the original linguistic elements. Otherwise it's cultural reprocessing.
OK so, like, what's the deal with this automated engagement boosting? I'm not cherry picking, either. I just scrolled down his feed and checked the first engagement solicitations like this I saw. Note the dates on them.
It will be: It's going to be: Which famous person would you like to best friends with?
