My thoughts on censorship. 1. Those who support censorship always assume it won't be used against them in the future. Censorship is only loved because it is used on those you hate. Reverse the pointer and imagine how it feels.
2. Censors and supporters assume that they will always be in power and control, which is a very naive assumption. As soon as they lose power, they find themselves on same the avalanche they create.
If you can't imagine or tolerate the other side being a censor you should not support censorship.
3. Lovers of censorship assumes the censors will never become corrupt by their power of censorship.
4. Censorship creates a barricade which must be circumvented. You can't block the flow of water without it going sidewards. Alternative platforms will be sought after and whatever temporary advantages you gained will be lost eventually.
Then, you will have a counter-energy stronger than the initial one you sought to censor.
5. Censorship used as a means of de-escalating violence/conflict assumes that the censor isn't stoking violence/conflict by the very act of censorship or the censor or
the supporters weren't responsible for creating the violence/conflict.
6. Censorship is only a means. There are other less provocative means of tuning down dissenting voices such as legal actions so that the court may authorise the censorship.
7. We were afraid of the government controlling the media. It's even more scary when the media (private) controls what the government and citizens can say.
Look beyond your political bias.
End.

Breakdown of the Tech Industry and the Skill Sets Required.
I will start from the unseen.
Before you ever see a website (like Amazon or Nairaland) or an app (like Twitter or WhatsApp), there are infrastructures they run on. Those infrastructures are called servers.
The servers store the codes for the website and app so that they are executed when we open the app or visit the website. These servers must always be up 99.99999% of the time (reliability). Those responsible for these servers are called system/server administrators.
When you hear of website hosting. Those who make it happen are system administrators.
Server/system administrators must learn Linux administration, computer networking, DNS, etc. See this free detailed video for more:
(You may not agree with this 100% but you will agree at the end that we are collectively threatened. 🙏🏾)
From a business perspective, the implications are even more damning. Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Google are among the top 10 most capitalised companies in the world.
They are all US companies with strong liberal agendas. Their revenues can funds all countries in Africa with spare cash remaining. Apple controls 100% of the iOS platform and devices.
