#AMLA( Emblica officinalis) contains no VITAMIN C ( Ascorbic Acid).

At one time Amla was considered a rich source of Vit.C. Earlier studies which identified presence of Ascorbic acid, were done by bioassay of extracts. But if you want to see Ascorbic acid (Vit. C) in PC or TLC chromatograms you will be disappointed.

It was Ghosal and co-workers in 1996, discovered that the Vit.C like action of Amla is due to two gallotannins, Emblicanin A and –B, which have the core sugar acid structure similar to that of ascorbic acid & there is no free or conjugated ascorbic acid in fruits of AMLA.

The constituents of the fruit are tannins (upto 28%), carbohydrates (14%), proteins (0.5%) alkaloids, minerals and a good amount of pectin. Tannins are gallotannins and of these, emblicanin –A and -B are biologically active.

Vitamin C is a water soluble and heat sensitive nutritent. Amla is one of the main content in Chyavanaprasha, there is always a doubt that if Amla is rich in Vit C won't the vitamins be destroyed during the process of Chyavanaprasha preparation. Here you have the answer for that.

Choice of drugs for medicine preparation was done very meticulously by our Acharyas. Amla is a well-known rasayana drug rich in antioxidants and it is proved to be anti-ageing. It is also immunomodulatory and helps to withstand all forms of stress. #Ayurveda #Chyavanprasha

Choice of using Amla by our Acharyas was not based on this for sure, but we cannot deny the fact that amla is considered as best drug for vayah sthapana (~anti ageing) in #Ayurveda had been done after thorough research based on ayurveda parameters.

Companies like this mint money by fooling ppl, things like this clearly shows that they have not at all researched their product. 1000mg =1gm its not even equal to a full fruit, generally amla fruit weighs 3-6gms
