pangolin assigned B.1.1.7 to 17,847 sequences on GISAID, 16,847 of which are from the UK. There are 39 countries in total with sequences assigned B.1.1.7 by pangolin. Newly represented is Peru (1), sample date from 2020-12-31.
pangolin assigned lineage B.1.351 to 530 sequences on GISAID from 13 countries, no increase from yesterday.

As of today, there have been no additional sequences representing lineage P.1 on GISAID. We have been made aware of a potential report of P.1 in Italy in 4 travellers from Brazil:

As of today 2021-01-18, 57 countries in total have reported cases of B.1.1.7 (39 on GISAID). Reports added today include from Ghana:

A total of 23 countries have reported cases of lineage B.1.351 (13 of them represented by sequences on GISAID). Today, sequencing from @WACCBIP_UG has also confirmed lineage B.1.351 in Ghana.
