Two Rivers Correctional Institution (TRCI)/ November 13th, 2020.
We received your letter and info about the Tax Stimulus deal.
Thank you very much for your outreach. We are interested in what your organization is about.
It has been very difficult living in prison during the pandemic. It's impossible to socially distance ourselves from one another and a lot of us work in laundry and actually wash all the linens from the local hospitals. So it's been nerve-racking to say the least.
We don't see any extra money for hazardous work conditions, and they put off any earned incremental pay raises for years on occasion.
The O.C.E. [Oregon Correctional Enterprises] industry uses inmates for very cheap labor and helps to create laws saying Oregon inmates have to hold jobs while incarcerated or we're subject to random punishment, such as loss of honor housing and incentive level.
It's becoming very apparent they are profiting off of our lives.
There's no reform, only resentment until released.
I would love to talk more with anyone interested and would love to hear more about your organization and ways we could contribute.

To quote Mariam Kaba, "A world without harm isn’t possible and isn’t what an abolitionist vision purports to achieve. Rather, abolitionist politics and practice contend that disposing of people...
"...the officers walk around without their masks on then pat us down and search our rooms and touch everything and don’t wear gloves, so I stay in my room 'cause with weak lungs getting Covid can kill me, and I am not here for life."

"Coffee Creek told OSP that they were sending a busload of Covid positive people over, which wasn’t the truth. All of us that were there on the bus had been in Coffee Creek intake for over 30 days or more...”
We started to make a big fuss about being held there so long. Instead of fixing that themselves, Coffee Creek didn’t want to deal with us anymore and sent us away."
