(By the way, and you guys know exactly who you are - I know you read this timeline, and I see you interacting with these tweets. Just don’t think you’re being subtle about it. And there’s still time for you to leave. Get out while you can.)
Performative adherence to partisan ideological purity tests might feel good, but online popularity contests are pretty useless for threats of this magnitude.
Incentivizing disengagement doesn’t mean: “let them off easily.”
Please be smarter.
If you want to defeat an enemy, you’ve got to understand that enemy.
Some of you act like empathy is merely a toothless “no-consequences kumbaya” sentimental gesture.
But pause for a second. It can be weaponized, even when it’s insincere.
But like any weapon, effectiveness requires training.
Incentivizing disengagement isn’t synonymous with “get out of jail free; yay we’re friends.” That’s a dangerous misperception.
Plus, have you not heard of Psyops?
Your opponents damn sure have.
I don’t write this stuff to lecture - it’s a reminder to myself.
I need to every single day because of the temptation to overreact out of emotion - and I’ve been at this for years.
Consider giving uncomfortable realities a try.

We could all use some hope at the moment, so I wanted to share a (very unexpected) message I just received.
People can change.
And we can’t afford to forget that, especially right now.
That particular kill list cost me nearly everything, quite literally.
I’m a lot angrier at the non-Nazis who punished me for risking my life than I am at the Nazis that made it.
And I’m thankful to the person who wrote this apology, and immensely thankful they got out.
I’m actually a bit emotional now, given what that kill list did to my life, so I’m going to log off.
But:
I’m so grateful for the desperately needed reminder that what we do is worth the personal toll and high cost. Someone broke free - and that’s the best gift I could get.
Never trust a neo-Nazi claiming overnight ‘reformed’ while facing legal charges, especially those who use that claim for sweet, sweet ‘deradicalization’ money.
Another tell:
True ‘formers’ don’t expect you to believe or accept them, and don’t seek rewards for doing the work.
