The same #COVID19 zoning will happen to Sham Shui Po.
Meanwhile, Discovery Bay sends out folks who drink at the pier without masks, in groups, WHILE POLICE OFFICERS STAND AROUND AND DO NOTHING
This government ALWAYS pick on the poorest, most vulnerable, most needy in society
I hope those who somehow still think the Hong Kong gov is "doing the right thing" or "doing their best" understand that the leadership is so incredibly rotten that they will always, and from now on, act without empathy, which is the beginning of the end to healthy governance
What is worse, there are legit signs to how the government is now sizing up different groups and trying to pick someone to blame for poor COVID control - and it feels like ethnicity will soon be casually dropped into the promotional rhetoric
May I also ask that if you can and if you are willing, to please express gratitude to your local street cleaners and recyclers. supermarket coupons, masks, hand sanitizers, 3M work gloves, OR JUST WRAPPING YOUR GARBAGE PROPERLY AND DUMP THEM IN THE RIGHT PLACES
Will always remember in late 2019, I came across a street cleaner who was transporting construction waste so heavy, I offered to help push her cart and she politely declined. I made a weak remark about how people are assholes. Her reply: "nothing can be done".
So much anguish.
Think about the lockdown zones in Jordan and soon SSP: would these cleaners, essential workers, public transportation drivers whose route pass through, etc, get to stop work or at least get protective gear for still manning these areas?
You even thinking this is a jest
And the homeless? Are the police officers in SSP going to chase them down and put them up for a swab test? Where would these people go to "stay put for their own and public safety"? Can @hkpoliceforce guarantee they'll treat the homeless as people with dignity and not toys?
Like many, my heart aches for my city, and yet so little can be done when the government is literally governing without reason and sense.
Then selfish fu*ks like these create so much upset - the ego, the stupidity, the lack of respect:
To clarify: while these selfish pricks shouldn't be let off the hook, it's WORSE when the gov & the law enforcement who's supposed to serve & protect is exercising so much customized caution, it makes your blood boil.
Lack of linguistic skills is NOT a reason to not make arrests
The anger, the upset, the emotional turmoil at seeing our glorious city ripped apart by injustice and apathy - perhaps I'm being dramatic, but I feel like half of the city needs psych help, myself included.
That being said, still hopeful and always will try to be positive
....because there's not much left that we can entirely own and claim to be ours and ours alone.
I thank our frontline medical staff and essential workers, cleaners, gov officials & anyone who still cares about and loves the city with kindness wholeheartedly. Please stay safe 🙏🏻

In case you haven't heard about this, on Jan 20th a pregnant 42 y.o was taking a walk in her neighborhood & was stopped by the police. Due to #COVID19, she asked to step away from another person who was presenting ID to the police. She was refused and then they forced searched /n
...her, and as she was trying to get her ID out of her wallet the 2 officers said that they would no longer check her ID because she was already "obstructing police officers on duty". She was handcuffed right after this remark.
Police officers also called her "fat bitch" and...
...made other derogatory comments. The victim and her relatives admit to be supportive of police in the past and as such have always cooperated and this was not her first time having to present ID to police officers doing checks.
Well, for those who MARVEL at how well China is doing in keeping #COVID19 at bay, residents in the city of Tonghua, Jilin are taking to Weibo to beg for help. Rough translations:
- We weren't defeated by the virus, but now we're losing to hunger and common sickness.... /n
...young people can drink water to survive, but what about our aging parents? Patients w/high blood pressure, diabetes etc have no medication. We are begging the world: who can save us?
- I am an 8 month pregnant resident of Tonghua, I haven't eaten fruits in days...
...authorities never contacted us, we asked the community shopping team what we can do, they said they're crazy busy, so my goal is to not go hungry. But at night I constantly wake up to hunger as I'm almost about to give birth
@inmediahk: HKT 4:40 - government announced at 4am that a #COVID19 zoning area has been set up in Jordan. Wusong Street in the east, Nanjing Street in the south, Battery Street in the west, and Kansu Street in the north.
Residents living within these zoning borders must be tested for #COVID19 and only those with negative results can leave the area. HKSAR acknowledges that they are aware of "inconveniencing" residents but aim to complete the in-zone testing within the next 48 hours.
The news was released at HKT 04:00 and journalists on site were constantly asked to leave by police officers. Prior to the announcement, many locals were seen leaving the area with belongings. District councillors and others criticize the government for the lack of info and...
You teach law at Yale, yet you have nothing but hateful slurs for anything HK - sweeping the complex causes for the protests and dissent and unrest all under the general umbrella category as "HK independence", while encouraging CPC to just roll their tanks in - dude, like no
Yes, 100% agree that xenophobic attitudes towards Chinese international students in the US is not OK. Great for you to offer help. But this Taisu? We don't hear the same kind of snarl from you on Twitter than you're showing on Weibo aren't ya?
"Let's suppress the HK independence insurgents and rioters" - dude, to go for such one-sided emotionally charged verbiage when clearly victims like a pregnant woman, a bus driver on duty, senior citizens and 12 year old minors all amongst those subjected to police brutality -wtf?
Bombs found in abandoned school is frequented by HKPF for EOD training
1/It has emerged that Lawmaker Andrew Kan received a citizen report at 9:30 am on Mar 12 of a large police presence at the abandoned St. Joseph English Middle School. Officers cite it is a "police exercise"
2/Fast forward to May 2nd, three bombs were found in St. Joseph English Middle School, with police suspecting the 14kg of dangerous substances and improvised bomb found were materials stolen during the siege of PolyU.
3/ Citizens interviewed by @appledaily_hk pointed out that for the past 4 years since the skl was abandoned, the site has been frequently used by the HKPF for training.
Netizens are left speculating tht the materials were planted to frame pro-democracy protesters as "terrorists"
A few things which we felt we need to reiterate about #HongKongProtests: 1. HK is not fighting for independence 2. The 5 core demands does NOT include HK independence. If anything it safeguards the 1C2S status quo 3. @joshuawongcf doesn't "lead" the protests. Netizens do.
1/n
4. When the 1st marches/dissent against the bill came, Joshua wasn't even freed yet. Most demonstrators couldn't care less what he thinks. 6. @lihkg_forum is instrumental early on, in particular the G20 ads around the world. They just got nominated in Nikkei Advertising Awards.
Alright that should've been #5. 6. Protesters have been buying their own gear out of pocket. Many HK citizens privately pooled money to buy masks for gears. These are mostly done as guerilla efforts, in groups of 3,4 out on the streets distributing. Their courage isn't any less.
