Okay! Today, we wanted something fun and light for #TabletopGails today, and we chose this...GODZILLA MONOPOLY from @TheOpGames!

I know what you’re thinking, just boring old Monopoly, right?

Turns out, we had a blast. :)

Even if you are not a huge fan of Monopoly, I have to say, we had a blast with this set.

First, we got rice crackers for snacks, we played Showa Era- Godzilla soundtracks for atmosphere, and it was just sheer kaiju fun from the minute we opened the box. Godzilla bucks!

There are two sure things with this company’s games...they are beautifully designed and the components are always top-flight.

You have six classic kaiju tokens and a first-class presentation of all the pieces. The board is also gorgeous.

I have to say, one of the funnest parts is reading the cards and seeing the various locations. Get Out Of Jail Free says you are summoning Jet Jaguar. It was fun to read them out loud as you play.

Again, put Godzilla music on, it makes a huge difference.

We also discovered today that any rule that adds more money to the players adds a LOT to the length of the game. We played mostly vanilla rules and were finished easily in 45 minutes. Do not do all the free parking tax stuff, it can triple the game run time!

Here’s us at the start, and I chose MOTHRA.

And next is @RocketSpouse, as he absolutely CRUSHED the game, he got an early monopoly on the orange properties and we just couldn’t take him down.

So, as a kaiju family, we had a ton of fun with this. The music, the tokens, the cards, all made for a super fun game.
